Rotating Themes And Forums

Post by horizons1 » Jan Thu 25, 2007 7:18 pm

Sub,

Here's something I noticed since the themes started rotating.

My user behavior:
Start on home page. Log-in or already logged-in.
Click Forums.
Click "View posts since last visit"
Happily read through new stuff

But since the rotating themes, here's what happens:
Start on home page. Log-in or already logged-in.
Click Forums.
Link says "log-in to view messages" or something like that
Log-in on forum page and last visit time stamp is one minute ago
Sadly hunt and peck through forums for new stuff

Any thoughts???

I don't belive it's due to the random themes. I think it's just if you log in from the home page. Previously (before 2.0 went live) there was a check box under the info boxes where you enter your username/pw (like there is in the forums). now that's gone, so that will only keep you logged in for that one session. if your session times out, you have to log in again.

I know I stay logged in by logging into the forums first, checking the "remember me" box, then go to the home pages if I want to request something.

That leads to the question of whether we should add the "remember me box"

hmm

I set the "remember me" to be a hidden field which is always on. But this is a high bug in my book because I hate losing new posts. I'll add it to the bug tracker.

Testing this will be a pain :)

Ok, I logged into the forums and checked the remember me box on the forum login. I'll check back later today (giving ample time for the session to time out) and see if that helps.

It worked the same day - I was still logged into the forum when I went in from the home page. But returning today - I am logged out and see the same behavior.
