Pretty much if you can't connect they are blocked. Most place's do. My College doesn't Which is great but my work does :( . If they are blocked not much you can do. You can try to ask to see if they will un-block them.

yeah they probably block them. wish i could check that. Does all streaming audio use those ports or just subsonic? i was able to listen to streaming at shoutcast

what you should look at is the part after the IP the :8004 is the port. If you check some other shoutcast streams and find something other than 8004 let me know I may be able to set up a relay of the 64k stream with the good port

OK, folks, I'm having trouble connecting...but only to the 128k streams. If I use the 64k or 24k streams, all works well. But, when I try the 128k streams, I hear the intro, and then blip, stop.

Now, my guess is that it has to do with the player I'm using: mpd and mpc. I can get the 128k streams to play on audacious, so they are working, just not with mpc. It isn't a speed issue as I can listen to other 320 streams with no problem on mpc. Finally, they used to always work, it's just a recent thing...and I'm stuck trying to figure it out.

could be something with buffer size? I'm not familiar with mpc to know why you can't connect with that but you can with another program.

I'm not familiar with that program either. You have broadband right?

MPD is the Music Player Daemon, and the client I use is the basic mpc which is all command-line based. As for broadband, this is at work, so I could probably saturate my 100 Mbps Ethernet if needed.

I'm beginning to think it's just something mpd doesn't like and I'll ask on the mpd chat & boards. I'll let you know what they think.

ETA: I asked on #mpd and one person there tried the 128k streams and just got the intro repeating over and over...so there something wonky between MPD and SR. I started a thread on the MPD forums, so maybe a dev will see that.
