My Mom has voiced concerns, but more in general than specifically about it occurring near us. Hopefully they can contain it ~ nasty virus! Stay safe kelpseaweedkelp!

And stay away from the infected patients ~ it sounds like the real danger is contact with the patients themselves

I think its very scary in NYC bc there are so many touch vectors and so many ppl. After Sandy is was apocalypitcal - no gas, low food - and that was a relatively localized disaster.

To be infected, a person has to come into direct contact with contaminated body fluids from someone else with an active Ebola infection. So, yeah, wash hands a lot, and try to avoid the nasties, but don't fret too much. It isn't transmitted by air so the likelihood of it reaching the U.S. Is low. I'm concerned about it spreading through Africa. That could prove catastrophic.
