My Ride is Toast

Post by Fantasrick » Jun Wed 29, 2005 1:40 pm

I am sorry to vent to all of you fellow subsonic radio forum people, but I am bummed. My car was totaled on Monday as a result of a highway pursuit from a hit and run. Apparently this guy hit somenoe else off the 10 freeway here in Los Angeles and he refused to pull over, so the guy who was rear ended chased the guy who hit him. This chase caused the hit and run driver to exit the freeway and he ended up on my street where my Explorer was parked. He hit a dip, lot control and hit my parked SUV head first, totaling it instantly and sending it spinning 90 degrees into another parked car. Then the hit and run driver gets out of his car through his sunroof and takes off running. He didn't have airbags so his face was cut up pretty badly, so he couldn't of run too far anyway. A witness chased him down until the cops showed up to arrest the guy. Fortunately I have good insurance, but to see my car in that condition really upset me. Oh well. At least I will get a new car.

Holy crap! Good thing you were not in it! Hopefully *HIS* insurance will foot the bill, if he has any.

Wow, just another day in LA. I guess if your policy includes uninsured motorist you have nothing to worry about.

Wow, I'm so sorry that happened to you. Good thing no one was in the car, and the person was caught. I hope the insurance thing works out and you're covered.

I was in a car accident on I-5(in LA) last month, and the investigation is still going on. Oh legalities.

I appreciate all of your responses. They do normally broadcast Police chases, and it seems to happen almost daily here. This was a civilian chase, so I received no publicity. And fortunately I have uninsured motorist insurance.

I feel for you

I totally sympathize with you. That is rediculous that the store won't let you have access to the tape which would help solve your problem.

LA is so strange - we have them here on and off but you rarely hear about it, a blurb on the news maybe but that is it... Good luck with the search for a new ride.

End Result

So at least I got a decent car out of the whole mess. I just got a Toyota Highlander, so now I have some closure.

The news had a report on the other day - a trucker was tooling down 94 here into the downtown area with his trailer flaming. No clue in the world either from the sounds of it, he was just driving along in rush hour and didn't seem to notice something wrong in the rear view mirror... Talk about a toasted vehicle, I imagine his load wasn't in very good shape when they put it out!

I didn't get the hybrid, but I did get a 4 cylinder 2WD Highlander, which gets good gas mileage.[/quote]

I've had my eye on the hybrid for quite some time. I feel that the Highlander is one of the few that does it right. The American Hybrid trucks are a joke. Plus, they only get about 15% better MPG.

Highlander Hybrid

The Hybrid must get totally awesome gas mileage because the one I have gets really great miles to the gallon.
