OK, I understand that Disney needs to impose some reasonable limits on its music listening / downloading, and points seem like a good idea.
However, how about ONE FREE listen / download (yes, even if one of the hour-long segments), before imposing point restrictions.
I'm burning up valuable time, posting gripes and questions, mostly to try to earn 2,000 more points to add to my initial 1,800 "new member" points - just to download the Tower of Terror area music loop which requires 3,800 points.
Is there an easier way?

First of all - there is no downloading here. This is a radio station, you can only listen to it.
Because of the popularity of the site, the point system is really necessary to ensure that no single person can fill up the whole queue of the request stream. It wouldn't be fair if there isn't any chance for you to get your favorite track on the request stream in a reasonable timespan.
Besides, if you really want to listen to a specific track, just ask around - there are enough folks with enough points around who will gladly queue your track for you. But, again, you might be wrong here if you want to download it

Hello Swiley and welcome to Subsonic Radio!
Let me first start out by saying we are not affiliated with Disney at all. The site is run and the streams are hosted through the generosity of others. All the work that is put into this site is done during free time. Second there is no downloading at subsonic radio. All of the tracks that are available to request are to listen only. If you are interested in downloading or owning a track, then you will have to look for where the track came from. We can try and point you in the right direction, but downloading from this site is not allowed.
As for the points, you are correct that each member starts out with 1,800 points and there are many tracks that are valued above that number. At subsonic radio you earn points for posting in some of the online forums. It's sort of a reward system for interacting with others! We don't want you to feel like you are wasting your time at all. It's a great Disney fan community on this site and we always look forward to gaining new insight from others.
Finally, there is always an easier way to requesting the tracks you are interested in hearing. The site has a chat room where there is usually someone hanging around. You can always ask someone to queue up a track for you to listen to. Secondly, there are many members on here who have accrued thousands of points over the years. You can always PM one of us or post on the board and we would be glad to request that track for you.
Arvorenn: great job explaining it as well!

Welcome back Arvorenn. Well said, both of you.
I want to reiterate what Len was saying. These forums are a safe haven for us Disney nuts. They are full of helpful hints, playful banter amongst friends and just plain silliness at times. But they all help us insert a little Disney magic into our everyday lives. The points accrued are just a bonus.
