Nike Mag's on sale (AKA the Back to the Future Shoe)
Looks like Nike is releasing a limited run of the famed Mag shoes. Downside is that they don't have power laces, upside is that the proceeds to go MJ Fox's parkinson's charity.

The one thing I never understood about shoe collectors is that the product they buy, while technically shoes, were never intended to be worn on human feet or ever touch the ground.

The auctions start at 99 cents and right now (they went on sale at 8:30 PM PST) the first batch appears to be hovering right at about 3k a pair.

Just think the things you could do - like go for a really nice vacation at WDW - with the money you would have to spend to buy one of those shoes on Ebay!

That's why I am really hesitant to call those things shoes, nor do I consider them art or an investment. A friend of mine collect them, I think he has every pair of air jordans from the start and all they do is sit in their boxes in the closet. The most that happens with them is that when I come over I will say "Gurl, you got a purse to go wit dem shoes?" and that's about it.
They are very cool, and it's going to a good cause but I'm not about to part with over 3k for a pair. If the last batch stays under 1.5k I might go for a pair since it's charity.

Wow ~ I just looked and one pair is up to $9000! What a great idea for Michael J. Fox' charity fund-raiser. I guess I'll have to watch the movie again, I don't remember these shoes

LOL, those are very cool! But would not pay that price, although I'm glad the money is going for a good cause. I could never understand why people collect shoes, in my opinion, shoes are meant to be worn and enjoyed! Just like my Stang, I baby her and she has never seen snow and rarely is she rained on, but cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed!
But anyway, cool shoes!

I like that the excessive $ amount of these shoes are going to charity, but after hearing about how many 9-11 charities collected millions of $ and almost very little of it went in the end the purpose of the charity, it does make wonder how much of this money will go to the end purpose in this case...

I would imagine more since it's MJ Fox's charity and he's been a champion for it.

I would guess so too, MJ Fox is very active in the fundraising for Parkinsons....Wizzard419 wrote:I would imagine more since it's MJ Fox's charity and he's been a champion for it.

With all the cherimoya I grow/eat I should probably donate a little extra myself (prolonged exposure can cause parkinsons or parkinson like symptoms).
Re: Nike Mag's on sale (AKA the Back to the Future Shoe)
Sweet. At least they are including free shipping, although if you can afford $3k-5k....
Hope MJ Fox raises lots of money for his cause.
