Ryder Cup anyone?

Post by kcarts » Oct Fri 01, 2010 9:13 pm

I don't get the feeling that there are many golf fans here but I'll make an attempt to tug at national pride. Or in the case of the European team, continental pride.

This is by far my favorite golf event and close to being my favorite sporting event to watch. I love the passion of the golfers and the fans. And I love the change of the game from an individual endeavor to a team atmosphere. It makes for great viewing.

Anyone else with me?

I'm guessing I'm pretty much alone.

I play but I hate watching golf (or any sport) on tv. If I am physically there it's good but otherwise I hate it.

kcarts - Since you posted this I decided to try it out. I normally hate watching golf (I like playing it though) but I love anything where the US is against anyone. However, I still find myself rooting against Tiger... I want every other match be US victories as long as Tiger loses. I'm still disappointed.

With all the big college football games on today, I can't see watching golf. To me it's like watching paint dry. Don't get me wrong, I like to play, just not watch.

I disagree on one of those statements Jacca... The college football scheduling gurus (Networks wanting money) put all the good games @ 8pm tonight. Nothing on right now worth watching except Tiger choking...

kcarts - What's with the purple sweater vests for the US? Shouldn't it be red, white or blue? Nothing too intimidating about purple sweater vests...

I'm with you there NaCler. Apparently Corey Pavin's wife was responsible for the wardrobe of the American's this week. I don't like anything they have worn this week. The rain gear they had on yesterday was fugly.

And I can't stand watching college football.

What a pulse pounding finish to the Ryder Cup. A great comeback by Fowler to keep the US in it but the three point deficit was too much to overcome. Congrats to the Europeans!

See you in two years at Medina!

And thanks for humoring the golf fan among us!

I'm of the "love to play it, hate to watch it" crowd. Well, actually, I probably wouldn't mind watching it... if I ever had time to just sit and watch something and nothing else was on.

2008. At Valhalla in Kentucky.

FYI, there is a tournament that we all might be interested in watching. The Children's Miracle Network Classic is on the Golf Channel November 11-14 from WDW. They play the Palm and Magnolia and show the occasional shots from around the resort. Don't get too excited. They mostly show men in twill pants chasing a little white ball around.
