Re: Food Pr0n!
I've been to the Grand Dame of Tiki Bar Restaurants, the Hawaii Kai in Manhattan. Growing up we always had Tiki glasses in the house!

I'd have to say the Tonga Room and Hurricane Bar is the pinnacle since it's over the top in tiki crap, including a working boat and storm.

The big problem with a lot of tiki mugs is that the really nice paint jobs are not for daily use as they have lead paint in them.

Re: Food Pr0n!
This week we have...
The Esquire cocktail (I am not 100% sure what year it's from as the magainze name trumps it on searches)
I am trying out a new cocoa, since it's different than other types I have to try out it's moisture levels since it absorbs more than other stuff. So right now I have brownies so dark that they make people from the south and suburban housewives uncomfortable.
This morning I made popovers for breakfast.

What else is in the brownies? Looks like some sort of chips?
Mmmmm, those popovers look tasty.
Have we ever asked how you got to be such a good cook?

There are also bittersweet chips and pecans.

Re: Food Pr0n!
Ok, it's been a while so lets start off with...
Pumpkin seeds, from the carved pumpkin. Seasoned with soy, worsh, (which gives it the darker color), pepper, and a little olive oil.
Tacos Al Pastor with pineapple salsa (I actually use tenderloin but the traditional is a larger roast)
This is one of the easiest roast chickens and also the best (it's seasoned only with salt, pepper, and thyme leaves and cooked in a 450 oven)
It was paired with a pan sauce and mushrooms.
Here are the secret family rolls, sorry can't share this rec.
I took the pomegrantes from a while back and juiced them and turned it into pomegranite molasses for these cornish game hens with fingerling potatoes.
The White Russian, complete with bathrobe and a rug that ties the room together.
I was toying with the sourdough method when I wasn't able to get a battard and found I could bake the loaf in a longer pan rather than a dutch oven and get good results.
Here is another poached pear with wine syrup and poached dried fruit.
This is a fall cocktail called the Ascot
Here is a shepherds/pot pie using shortribs.
Mexican Hot Chocolate
I'm not sure what this is called but it's a mix between the bramble and the Kentucky Christmas
Here is some hot mulled cider, the cup also warms your hands quite well.

It's a Shepherd's pie or a pot pie made with short ribs. What I did was prepared the ribs and then chopped up the meat (it falls off the bone) added it back to the stew like mixture with the vegetables in it, then put it in the bowls, added the puff pastry (it fell because it wasn't filled to the top as that's too much) and baked it till golden.

Re: Food Pr0n!
Good god, it's been too long (work related busy) so here's thanksgiving (haven't had many new dishes and forgot to take cookie photos before they were gone, so alas no photos of the chocolate shortbread).
So for thanksgiving
I forgot the name of this cocktail but it was similar in flavor to an ascot but with some cranberry as well.
Brie and pastry bites with a cranberry compote on top
Steak Oscar/Neptune (technically just Oscar but often places call it neptune by mistake) A fillet topped with crab, asparagus, and hollandaise. Also a mashed potato rosette on the side.
And for those that are allergic to shellfish there was the same fillet served on a roasted portabella (with a garlic compound butter) and topped with a port wine pan sauce.
This wasn't part of any of the meal but the day after I made a squash soup with fried sage and pommegranite seeds.

Mmmmm! That was a long time between meals Wizz I thought I was going to starve!
Do you brown the potato rosette with a torch or stick it under the broiler?

Re: Food Pr0n!
If I recall, it was a hot oven but not the broiler. The nice thing about them is you pipe them out hours before they are needed, and chill them then throw them in the oven.

Re: Food Pr0n!
Sorry for the delays, busy with holidays, black widow bite (fun because the most you get are painkillers since the antivenom will kill you more than the bite), and busy.
So in possibly no particular order...
A Rudolph's Red Nose (it was crazy hot out so tropical drinks were in)
A cranberry margirita
Chicken Enchiladas (all made from scratch)
A Chocolate Bock float, using a 2007 bottle from my cellar (not really a cellar as it's above ground).
Chocolate Cranberry Layer Cake (it is supposed to also have white chocolate but I consider that a bastard and do not welcome it on my property)
I forgot the name of this one, if I recall it had scotch in it.
These are from NYE, I was semi-tripping balls on painkillers and catered to the demands of someone who wanted an american pizza so I give you the hawaiian.
And one based off an earlier posted app. with proscuitto, moss, parsley, garlic, and olive oil.
