Me like hockey!

Not that anybody will get the Arrogant Worms reference, but anywho...
Any other hockey fans here? I realize it's not exactly a huge sport in most of the U.S. (especially with this stupid lockout going on), but I figured I would see if anybody else here loves the sport.
Now that all the junior and minor leagues are in the thick of the playoffs, I'm finding that I miss the NHL and my Canucks all the more. At least I still have the Manitoba Moose and the Kelowna Rockets to root for, but it's just not the same, especially when it's not televised. Grr.
So yeah, any other fans out there, or am I alone in the cold, barren wasteland that is a hockey fan's existence?

I used to be a SJ Sharks fan in high school. But then I remember they got rid of some of my favorite players and I just lost interest. But when I heard about the lock-out, I swore the NHL would somehow manage to have a season, but alas. My friend, is a rabid hockey fan, and practically exploded when she found out about the lockout.

The Sharks actually did really well last season, even after losing guys like Selanne and Nolan. They went as far as the Western Conference Finals, but lost to Calgary in Game 6. What's funny/sad (depending on your point of view) is that one of the big reasons Calgary won was their super-hot goalie, Miika Kiprusoff, who had been San Jose's #3 man before being traded to the Flames earlier that season.
Interesting about your friend though. Every hockey fan I know saw this lockout coming years ago. Which makes it all the more frustrating that they didn't solve this problem a long time ago.

It was probably more that she couldn't believe it led up to the actual lockout. I wish I paid more attention to what was going on.

Not a big hockey fan - baseball and the real football [aka soccer in the US] but it has been quite quiet here in the Twin Cities with the Wild not playing... Then again, we're so close to Canada it is a natural to see so much hockey here. Meanwhile, the Twins are back for another good season.

My boss played a lot of hockey
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdis ... d=00001972 (I can't find a good link for his hockey info)
... he played a few games for the SJ Sharks, don't know why it's not listed... and also had a very short skate with the Boston Bruins. So hockey is BIG in this office, and we have a business associate & my bosses friend, that we do a lot of work with who played for the Montreal Canadians and a few other NHL teams,

he is alot older these days....ha ha ha
So yes I am a hockey fan, if I wasn't it would be thru osmosis here at the office

Sharks? Cool. Mighty Ducks? Makes sense. Bruins, Canadiens? Gotta love the Original Six action. Heck, even the Wild I can understand.
But the Toronto Maple Leafs?

Yes, Leafs. Exboyfriend who got me into hockey is from Toronto, so of course I learned everything from watching Leafs games.

Meh, I would take this opportunity to take a bunch of shots at the Leafs, but their farm team just lost their series against Vancouver's, so I guess I'll leave them alone.
Now here's hoping Kelowna (my hometown junior team) can clinch their series. They're in overtime as I speak.

Ah, poopy. They lost. Oh well, they're still up in the series 3-2.

:Raises hand: Me! I love me some hockey. I don't have a favorite NHL but the Canucks are up there and I'll probably get lynched for saying that I like Colorado.

Closer to home though I gotta cheer on my Winterhawks. It's really too bad we didn't get past the first round of the playoffs but I'm just glad to see that Everett didn't make it past the second.
Good luck to you and your Rocket's Mike. They're broadcasting the finals on cable channel 14 Portland metro area...game two tonight! Hey, I'll take what I can get.

I am an L.A. Kings fan. Sorry guys, but the Leafs are the team that I detest the most... So, what do you think of the NHL's chances moving forward. This had to have set them back at least 10 years in the US.
