Marathon Monday

Post by kcarts » Apr Mon 19, 2010 5:44 am

AKA Patriot's Day here in the lovely land of Massachusetts (and Maine). A state holiday in the commonwealth but for this federal employee a work day. Also a day when thousands run 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston and force me to drive 26.2 miles out of my way to get to and from work to avoid the route of the race. And finally the Red Sox host the only morning game on the MLB schedule this year.

Mile 25 of the race runs through Kenmore Sq., a block from the ballpark. This spawned a quote from one of the local columnists a few years back... "there were hundreds of tired, sick and spent people vomitting in Kenmore Sq at about 2:00 yesterday afternoon. And those were just the Sox fans."

I heard about this in the news. It seems like a really interesting thing to have an 11:00AM baseball game and a marathon on the same morning. Seems like NYC on the first Sunday of November (without the baseball game)

Nah, the government just bankrupted the Postal Service years and years ago. It's amazing that it still exists.

8-2 right now with no sign of winning. What happened to the Red Sox? They usually get off to a hot start.

They started 2-6 last year. I'm hoping they turn it around soon. Before they fall out of the race by Memorial Day.
