Non-Disney Theme Parks

Post by AKLRULZ » Apr Mon 25, 2005 2:14 pm

What is your favorite non-Disney theme park?

My vote goes for Busch Gardens Williamsburg - great theming, great coasters, overall better than average theme park food - not quite Disney but close in a pinch! :)

errr umm, let me think. Most parks are not really that good of a theme, Cedar point would be my choice and I know it isn't a theme park.

Reason is that they have record breaking coasters and tons of rides to ride. The food is avg but tasty for what it is.
Love Tomorrowland and Adventureland, but hard to decide to which one is best.

Ooh, that's a good question. I haven't been to any theme park outside of a Disney one for a long time. I would have to go with Universal Studios- I love the Tram ride! I also like the E.T. ride, which I hear they got rid of. :(

Cedar Point is really cool for their selection of coasters - our last visit was in 2002 though - the year before they installed Dragster. Would love to get up there again soon to ride that! 8)

PLEASE tell me that isn't so! I loved that ride. Plus it was always nice in cool inside :)
I am with you, Universal Studios, but California or Orlando????

I haven't been to the one in Orlando, so I'm referring to the one in California. I hope the one in Orlando still has it. It was funny when E.T. said your name right at the end.

It had so little time to say all the names though, and had a poor speech system anyways. :)

The themage of the ride was pretty well done overall though. It wasn't kept up though and really looked bad when I was there a few years back. It was a nice ride though.

LOL check out the silbermine ride. Its like PoTC on a train.. Even the last 1 second of the demo video has a "pirate" on top of a cannon leaning at you with his pistol aimed above you. Almost like they stole the video from pirates and used it on their site instead ;)

The Colorado Adventure is the big thunder mounatin ride shown above. Including the spraying water from under the track when it gets near the water to simulate the splashing.

Actually after seeing some of those videos it might be interesting to see that place.

I'm all about Cedar's point. I really want to go there being the huge coaster fan I am.

This park holds somewhere around 7 world records. I've got to schedule a weekend trip.

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there!

@ borjoyzee and Gizmata:

You know I am german. I live only one hour away from Phantasialand, and it IS my favourite non-Disney theme park! For me it is just funny, that americans have a picture of the unknown Phantasialand in their Forum :D.

It is a wonderful theme park (but not as good as Disney :)) I visit it about 30 days per year, since they offer the annual passport (since 1999). Tomorrow, I will just go there :). Perhaps I can take some pictures for you. You are right, that they copied many things from Disney. 20 years ago, the park manager even said in an interview, that they try to be a little Disneyland in Europe. At that time, there was no DLRP.

I just can't stop smiling that my home-park is so famous that you know about it :).
Even my name "Wuzefelix" is a combination of the 2002 new attraction "Wuzetown" and my first name Felix.

Greetings from Phantasialand, Wuzefelix

I heard they are putting in an Inverted coaster in. I would like to see what is all about. Yeah That park looks like alot of fun to go. Even though I live in the US. My hometown Theme park is Worlds of Fun and I use to like it but they took out a ride I really enjoyed there.

Wow, I grew up in the midwest and grew up going to WOF - you must be talking about them taking down the Orient Express! I remember riding it as a kid! Just why did they do that?
