Michael Moore, The Pros and Cons
I'm a fan of Michael Moore, the famous documentarian who made Fahrenheit 9/11, Bowling for Columbine, and Sicko, but I can't help but wonder if he's doing good.
Do you think Moore's docos help the cause, or hurt it? Is he too inflammatory, or is that exactly what we need? Where does he fit in the scope of things?

I think it would be more accurate to describe him as "the Baron Munchausen of the Documentary World". When you twist facts and sacrifice the truth without conscience for your own political ends, then the end product is more propaganda then documentary. While the extreme liberal press promotes his work as documentary, even the Cannes Film Festival had some integrity by not allowing his work to be classified as a documentary. It is an embarassment to call him a "documentarian".

Very well said. I am not so articulate. I tend to say things that are not "politically correct". You on the other hand are very eloquent.

Without having the extreme ends trying to pull us, there would be no middle. We are a society that has to to have those on the far sides keeping us honest. Do I agree with Moore, I don't think so. I don't agree with Rush either. All though I can stomach Moore better.

It still is listed in Anything Else. When you click the link it just brings you to the thread in Off Topic. I was thinking the same thing Elizabethswann was thinking until you said that and I looked up.mindflipper wrote:No, she wasn't. Originally it was in the "Anything Else" area by mistake; one of the moderators has moved the thread to "Off Topic" AFTER elizabethswann posted that comment.

I think that will be there forever. It is called the shadow topic and will be there from what I know forever. Over time it will drop off the first page as people post in other threads or start new topics. When a topic is moved, there is the option to use that or not.mindflipper wrote:It is in the "Off Topic", but it is also listed under "Anything Else" as having been MOVED:. I have no idea of how long that lasts before it goes away under "Anything Else".
