I love my boys, but I have a very bad feeling that you are correct Jacca. And while I am an AL girl to the bone and usually will cheer on the AL team in the series, if NY makes it I'm rooting for the Phillies to go back to back.

...though if the miracle happens, all that changes :) (and it would be cool to see 2 teams with the same colors battling it out)

If it does happen, Welcome Aboard, we don't discriminate unless you are on the other team.

I'm a loyal Mets fan. So for me it becomes tough. Do I root for the subway rival or the NL East Rival. I personally dislike the Phillies more, so I'll be watching the games to enjoy them and will cheer for the Yankees.

Len even though I'm an Brooklyn native, I wouldn't root for the Yankees if they gave me a seat on the bench!! Being a Braves fan, it does put a bad taste in my mouth. I'm gonna have to root for the Phillie...EW!!

Well, now it's all down to the Yankees and Phillies. The worst possible outcome for a Mets fan! It was a great ALCS. The games were always close which definitely kept you drawn to the screen. So on to my World Series prediction: Yankees in 6.

Errors killed the Angels. I'm gonna have to root for the Phillies. I think this one may go 7. I'm looking forward (That's just not right!!) to a Phillies repeat.

I'm fine with a repeat, but I might be a little biased. :) Angels really did loose it themselves with those errors. They had chances and they didn't capitalize, oh well.

Let's go Phillies...

As a lifelong Sox fan I cannot stomach the idea that the Yankees can go out and drop 1/2 a BILLION $$$ on THREE INDIVIDUALS during a recession/depression and still win the Series. There is something morally wrong and I have to hope that the are not rewarded for it.

I realize my Sox are quite high up on the arms race spending figures (no. 4 according to ESPN.com), but as I argue to my Yankee loving girlfriend all the time, the Yankees aren't even really in the same solar system when it comes to spending. They are $60 million more than their next highest spending rival (the Mets)! That's almost 50% of the Mets (again 2nd highest) entire salary for 2009! And that's just the difference! There are some teams that putting the salaries of 2 clubs together don't even make 60 million for the year. The Yankees have committed almost $500 million to three people over the next 8-10 years. That equals roughly the 2009 salary for The Mets, Dodgers, and Sox (numbers 2, 3, 4 respectively on list). Ridiculous. One more eye popping salary figure- The Yankees paid A Rod, Jeter, and Teixiera (their top three highest paid players this season) a combined $75,000,000. That is alone higher than the entire salaries of 14 clubs. It's $14 million higher than the combined salaries of the two lowest paid teams (the Marlins and the Pirates), heck A-Rod's salary alone this year was $5 million higher than the entire salary of the Pirates and almost equal to the Marlins' salary. This year has absolutely solidified in my mind my ever increasing demand for a salary cap in baseball.

Sorry I'll get off my salary cap/Yankee bash soapbox now... :P

It seems to happen in the postseason...they play excellent ball all season long and blow it with stupid errors. At least we made it to the ALCS this year. It was great while it lasted!

I guess that means I'm a part-time Phillies fan...or should I say (ph)an?

Steinbrenner has done as much damage to baseball as Eisner has done to Disney. Ne he's done more damage. It hard to think anybody is worth the money some are getting now! I don't just mean baseball or sports in general. It's everyplace you look. Where is the greed going to stop?

OK I'm off my soapbox and I didn't even go into the politics of the subject!

You make a great point Jacca. These people are getting paid millions to work not even a full year and to only come through at best 30% of the time (for a .300 hitter). It does not make any sense to me, but that is sports. A salary cap would be nice, but then what would happen to half of the baseball teams out there.

I agree that the whole salary thing has gotten out of hand. I understand that these guys are away from their families for extended periods of time and only can remain active for so many years. However, I don't think that constitutes a multi-million dollar a year salary. :?

I think the money would be better spent increasing the salaries of our troops who are out there risking their lives on top of being away from their families for even longer periods of time.

There is way too much greed out there... :(
