Firewalls

Post by Jacca5660 » Sep Sun 27, 2009 8:54 pm

Since we are on line so much, I wanted to know what firewalls are used by my fellow Diser's. I was using zonealarm now I'm using Comodo. I feel it provides me with a lot more protection and more control. What firewall do you use and why?

I rarely use a firewall. Gotta love Mac's. Pretty much the only way to get a virus is if you purposely download one.

AVG is my firewall/anti-virus program. It scans every single day at noon so that's a relief too.

I generally don't have a firewall app on my computer. My router blocks all ports other than those that are in use. The OS default firewalls are on (windows firewall and whatever the hell OS X uses), but that's it. I don't do anything special for that.

I tended to find things like zonealarm etc just unneccesarily slowed everything down.

Very true. I use Kaspersky on my PC and it does slow down the machine a ton. It is terrible and saddening to see that I am always running at least 1.5 GB of RAM on a 32 bit operating system at idle due to the friewall and anti-virus.
