I've been with Sprint a few years and the only place I've ever had no coverage at all was in rural Vermont. And, strangely, in a Target near my house... One of the friends I travel with who's with Verizon is always jealous of my bars. :D

First, it's a good point that you need to look into which carrier is best where you will be using the phone. No company has good service in all areas, so advice from someone who lives even 50 miles from you is not necessarily of any use.

The other thing is that almost everyone hates their cell phone company. In fact, when you make a complaint at the BBB, when you select which sort of company you are reporting, there is a long laundry list of generic company types, and only two radio buttons for specific types: cell phone companies and auto dealerships.

If you haven't bought one already, it might be a good idea to find which phones will have your favorite ringtones (POTC, Monorail, etc.) available for download. I mean . . . come on . . . get your priorities in line . . . who cares about coverage . . .

Yeah but depending on which phone you get you may be able to set up whatever ringtone you want without having to go to the proprietary store.

I have Verizon and have never had any problems and get great coverage. Plus all my family is on Verizon so we get the free Verizon to Verizon, oh, with the exception of my son he is with AT&T cause he works for them :D
I like Verizon and will stay with them as long as I can. Of-course my company supplies my cell phone so if they switch I won't have a choice :| but we are all really happy with them, so no worries!
