I read in the New York Times this morning that Eartha Kitt passed last night. This truly is a sad first day of Christmas for all music lovers. She became a household name in America after succeeding Julie Newmar in the role of Catwoman in the 1960's TV show, Batman, buy most of us will remember her as the voice of Yzma in the Emperor's New Grove. She was an amazing talent, the likes of which, I am afraid, will not be seen again for a long time. She is an inspiration to many, overcoming insurmountable odds to become as Orson Welles once said, "the most exciting woman alive." Ms. Kitt, you will truly be missed by this and countless other loyal fans.
