does it matter? either way we are in bad shape. i'm debating moving to Russia just for a year so i can prepare myself for Communisim. then again perhaps i have it wrong and the Anti-christ will appear and make communisim look appealing! either way i'll vote, but in my opinion, America needs to stop watching reality shows and start facing reality. we have too many idiots purchasing what they can't afford to maintain, too many people opting for a 60" plasma tv instead of health insurance then whinning that it all cost too much and the government needs to pay for it. wake up people...the money the government uses is yours. and if your not paying taxes and yet collecting money...then your the straw that is breaking the camels back. we have replaced American Pride for a self righteous pride. People get hired to do a job then need incentives to work. turn off the TV and wake up.

at least srik is voting for McCain. doesnt matter, congress is running it, there truly isn't a difference in Rep or Dem just the difference in time. one wants to run while the other prefers a quick walking pace. both heading in the same direction.

Croaker,

Very well said. I see it where I work. Our employees spend more than they make and live pay to pay or on credit....the sad part is that they make 4 times what I make. The more you have the more you spend.

I think this thread is going to cause a lot of anger and a lot of bitterness towards other users. I and the other Mod's and Admin's will step in if this gets too crazy. Just remember what Abraham Lincoln said "When I get angry I step back, count to 10, then start on the problem at hand". It is great advise and you should think of it when posting.

I wasn't trying to start trouble. I just feel it's sad that so many don't vote. I was hoping that this would get more people voting. If you noticed, I didn't say who we voted for, frankly, I feel it's private.

We have 2 cards and keep a very low balance. To many people think they need things to be happy. They should try spending time with their families and God. Our big non-need expense is a trip to WDW every few years.

I don't care who anybody votes for. PLEASE JUST VOTE!!

Get out the vote, y'all!

I can't vote early in MN, so I'll be in long lines after work. I think we should call it a holiday and not have work. Party for the country!

Perhaps to ease tensions the Mods and Admins should change the poll options to "yes I am voting" or "no I am not voting" instead of For whom your voting. It would then make this a nonpartisan thread.

As for Croaker's comment, well said, though I don't know if we are heading for communism. Yes, we running full steam into socialism and the government is spending too much time and money helping greedy corporations exploit the average citizen. I have seen here at my job too many people lose their homes because a lending institution gave them a mortgage that they couldn't afford. I know of two physicians who have filed bankruptcy in the last year, because they lived too much on credit. Physicians? Making six figures cannot get their crap together. Personally, if I can't afford it I don't buy it. I am only in debt for my car and student loans, I do not have a credit card and if I do not have the funds in my "mad money" account I go without. I understand the importance of credit, I just think the boards of the banks need to be held responsible when the bank makes poor decisions; don't give them $700 billion dollars of my money to pad their wallets. I think I am going to save up my mad money and buy an island in the tropics, I like fish and coconuts.
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Please do change the poll. I don't want this to get out of hand, There are enough political websites out there. I just wanted to see how many people are going to vote anyway. I come here to get away from it all and be with other Diser's. If I want to see people get into it I'll watch one of the news networks. Oy! Sorry, I didn't mean to start anything.

frankly, I think it's illegal to publicly announce who you're voting for, or at least that's what I've heard. But, even if it's not illegal, to prevent any problems, I will be removing the options of the current poll. Please do not announce who you are actually voting for.

I'm just glad srik didn't take my joke wrong.hehe.

aginger...funny you say that...my wife and I were seriously looking into buying a boat to do fishing tours or sight seeing in NZ. but realized they pretty much are a socialized nation and we would be better off just doing it here.

My advice to everyone is focus inward (not selfish...inward) look at your own spending, look at your own lifestyle. then move up from there. don't worry about the president or congress...work the other way around. know your neighbors, get to know your school district, Mayor, county government. then move forward....States have the opportunity right now to take control and show what and why we are called United States. lower some local taxes to ease the Federal Pains, focus the spending that is done on the smaller governmnet rather than mirror the bigger government.

personally, I will be voting, but I don't think the presidential race is as big as everyone thinks it is. I have a really good friend who wrote a really good post on her Livejournal about this very topic. here's a quote:
But I'm becoming increasingly more frustrated with *** supporters (less so with the campaign, although I'll get to that in a minute) and their blindness to the fact that other races matter, too. The Congressional race is just as important - if not more important! - than the presidential race. If elected, *** can accomplish nothing without a Congress that supports him. And right now, we're hovering on the edge of something big; just look at the past two years as an example. The ### margins in the House and Senate are so slim that although we've managed to slow @@@ down some, we haven't been able to stop his crazy plans, not by a long shot. With so many moderate Congressmembers who act like they've never heard of party loyalty, we need a much more solid majority to get any sort of real, progressive change accomplished.

And yet while some of ***'s supporters pay lip service to this idea, most of the ones I've talked to are banking on the coattails effect and are not taking it seriously.
Now, I've blocked out names of candidates, and parties, to prevent any problems that could arise. My friend works for a political party, and is a political scientist (though, she studies mostly Eastern European political parties). In any case, what she says is true. The congressional races (Senate, House) are just as important as the presidential race.
