And as for those Nuzgul you mentioned, if the film had stuck to the same story as the book they could have chopped them all to bits on Weathertop with the weapons from the barrows...............darn I appear to have gone all Uber-nerdy....sorry.

I guess you didn't grow-up reading the trilogy.
I was introduced to the LoTR books in the summer of 1976. It took me 6 months to read all four books (the Hobbit, included), and even longer to understand them. Fortunately, our neighbors (ex hippies) were REALLY into the Lord of the Rings and we spent hours talking about the story.
Since then, I have re-read the entire series about every 5 years. It is still my favorite summer read.
When the movies came out, I was entranced. I have to admit that I teared-up during the Fellowship of the Ring.
I think that these three movies were excellent, and captured much of the magic. Of course, I disagree with some of the Director's decisions, and there are some very important story elements that were left out (Tom Bombadil, the Scouring of the Shire, and Gimli's love and appreciation for all things Elvish after meeting Galadriel). BUT, overall it was a marvelous attempt at trying to create a film to tell the story of my favorite books of all time.
