Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Post by Cheshire Cat » Aug Sun 10, 2008 11:23 am

I figured I'd start a thread for this.

I found this video that shows a lot of the construction so far. You can see the building for Hogwarts castle (which sits oddly right behind the JP Discovery Center (hopefully Universal realizes this).

The Enchanted Oak is also completely gone now! It wa sonly an over-the-counter restaurant, but for some reason it makes me a little saddened. I think because the inside was so detailed.

thread moved to the off-topic form, as this is not Disney-related. It's a Universal Studios property now.

This makes me wish I lived in Florida or had the money to afford going there. :[ I'm a fan of the books so I would love to see how the finishing results will look like.

I have not been to IoA since May 2000 (Universal Studios since 1993). But I will definitely go there in 2010.

*don't worry, I make it to WDW at least once every three months (most time more frequently)

I wonder if Universal isn't a bit late on all this. I mean, the huge popularity of Harry Potter already seems to have peaked. Yes, it will still be read by kids of all ages, but the boom appears to be over.
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

Hello? Isn't this supposed to open when Half-Blood Prince hits theaters? I'd think it would be awfully popular around then.

Yeah, there are still three movies to come out. Plus, Rowling is releasing a supplementary book later this year. Harry Potter has not climaxed yet.

2 movies left, not 3. there are seven movies in total, we've already had 5. 6th movie comes out this november, them the 7th sometime in late 2009/early 2010...

I stand corrected, I haven't been paying attention to the movies. I thought the last one was Goblet of Fire. Only two more movies.

Nope, three more movies, the current plan is to split Deathly Hallows into two separate movies. Why they didn't do that for Order of the Phoenix, I don't know, the movie didn't do that one justice.

After the first movie I refused to watch the others. Too much was cut out. If I recall there was a petition circulating the internet to have the director's cut released on DVD, but apparently nothing came of that. I rarely watch a movie based on a book, if I have read the book first.

I've got agree with you on that. The Harry Potter movies are some of the worst ever film adaptations of a book. It kept getting worse and worse to the point where I'm no longer looking forward to the moves. The ending of Goblet of Fire with the maze really bothered me. I remember getting so hyped for that part - for all the creatures and the mist - and then, nothing...

Then again for Order of the Pheonix, I was getting all ready for the big excited grand finale... which was toned down. I hope this is what they're trying to fix when they split Deathly Hallows.

...Or they just hope to get more money by having two movie realeases

EDIT: Wait I just remembered...I like the movie version of Azkaban better than the book, and that's even my favotite book :) . It's the only Harry Potter movie I own  .
