Thank you! I like the new avatar as well. I may keep this one a lot longer.
I was born a year later after the Whittier-Narrows one but my mom remembers that one. I was six years old when the Northridge quake happened but I have no memory of it. I could have slept through that without knowing.
Consider yourself lucky you don't live in Cali anymore. I know I want to be somewhere on the East Coast when the big one hits.

I don't live in Cali, but I want to be elsewhere too! Whenever the big one hits, we're gonna get it here too. I know the "experts" say that it's coincidental that all these quakes have been happening, but I can't help but think they are at least somewhat related. It had been pretty quiet for a while, so I'm not surprised that all of a sudden quakes are happening all around the world.I know I want to be somewhere on the East Coast when the big one hits.

I live in Chattanooga and we've had three quakes in the last four years. Even NYC is on a fault. So don't think because you live East you don't have to bother with quakes!

You're right Jacca...there are fault lines everywhere. I remember being in upstate NY once and there was a quake near the Canadian border and we felt it. I was just a kid, but remember thinking that earthquakes couldn't happen in the East (just like we don't get hurricanes...just remnants). Boy was I wrong...Jacca5660 wrote:I live in Chattanooga and we've had three quakes in the last four years. Even NYC is on a fault. I live in Michigan and we have had a few earthquakes close enough to register here. My one brother and his family live in Cali, and when my nephew was little he had early earthquake detectors - his snow globes on shelves around his room. I guess that helped him feel safe although looking back now, that probably wasn't a good thing to have above your head in earthquake country!

Off we go again!
We just had a 7.2 earthquake but the epicenter was 26 kilometres (16 miles) south-southwest from Guadalupe Victoria, Baja California, Mexico.
I felt a little rocking going on at my grandmother's home but my mom was the one that pointed it out. I didn't think it was anything but we noticed that it didn't stop after that, it kept going! It wasn't strong, though; it felt more like a boat ride or sitting in a rocking chair. My mom got a bit dizzy by it though. It takes a lot for me to get sick/dizzy by motion sickness.
Disneyland rides have been shut down from what I heard on KTLA news. The rumor about someone being stuck in an elevator there is false from what they told me.

Glad to know you are ok, and better safe than sorry on that earthquake kit. Doesn't cost much to put one together and is definitely a good idea to have one around!elizabethswann wrote:I'm good! I've kept the KTLA news on since I got home and hopefully this will inspire my mom to start getting an earthquake kit together since we haven't gotten one yet.
