Long Vacations or Minnies?

Post by wdwannabe » Jul Sun 27, 2008 11:34 pm

How do you vacation?

Do you take all your vacation days at once or take several days all through out the year?

I will take one long vacation (a week long) once and then spread my other 2.5 weeks throughout the year. I usually take my long vacation around the end of February to break up that stretch between New Year's Day and Memorial Day (My company doesn't take President's Day or MLK Day--hell, we don't get the Friday after Thanksgiving off). The minis I use for three-day-weekend trips to places nearby; Orlando, St. Augustine, Savannah, etc.

Depends. I have standard vacations, ones that I take every year. that consists of 3.
Vacation: Time taken from work:
Labor day 0 days
Halloween 2-3 days
Great Lakes Fright Fest 5 days

Then there are random trips, like Disney. Generally I take off for about 5-6 days from work + the weekend is free.

I can build up to 24 Vacation Days in a year, so..............

I have a vacation formula  ...

A 2 week Disney trip at least once every two years with a week stop at eitehr Myrtle Beach or Busch Gardens Williamsburg on the way back.

Then two "minnies" over the summer to nearby areas from 3-7 days (mostly Lake George and Martha's Vineyard).

Finally multiple long weekends to NYC or Six Flags Great Adventure.

Every 5-10 years there's a BIG trip to Disneyland/California or Europe. (Unfortunately, the Disneyland trip hasn't happened yet  )
(DLRP is slated for 2015 with a bunch of friends)

A 3-4 day trip every year in April (NCAA Ice Hockey Championships)
Usually 3-4 days to a week over Christmas (we have a toddler so fun to be home)
Then 1-2 days here and there.

If we're actually taking a real "vacation" and doing something/going somewhere it's usually 7-10 days total or 5-8 work days off. May try a 2 week'er in 2010. We want to Disney in October of 2010, but that's also our 10th anniversary and we did a honeymoon and 5 year cruise. If we've got the cash may try to do a 7-day cruise and 7-day land vacation.

I usually will take a day or two every once in a while. just to clear my head from work. If I go anywhere (say Disney, or NYC or some place like that), I'll usually take about 1 week, sometimes 2 (depending on destination).

I work for a gov't agency and we can carry over up to 15 weeks of vacation into the next "leave year". I'm kind of stingy with my vacation time. I usually take the mini vacations. Try to find a long weekend and add a day or two for a four or five day getaway. I almost always take the Friday after Thanksgiving for a nice four day weekend. Things like that. Of course when I go to WDW that requires a few more days.

I love to take long vacations of at least a little over a week. I love smaller vacations too, when I can, of just a couple of days, but those are never to Disney, its too far away for me. :(

I love any kind of vacation!!! It's not easy for me to take vacation time from my job, so when I have time off, I don't know how to act!!! I love long Disney vacations though! Those are the best! :D

I love being in college! I get 1 week in March, 3 1/2 months in summer, 1 week in November and 3-4 weeks in December/January off each year. It's not going to be fun when I get a real job in a year and half... unless Disney hires me :D

I'm taking a 5 day weekend this coming weekend to photograph around the Nations Capital. The funny thing is it all started with a Baseball game. I originally wanted to go to a Orioles game on Tuesday. Then that game turned into a Double header, and that isn't so easy to get back to work after (the next day). So I thought I should take off on Wednesday. Of course at this time I thought why not take off Monday too, and so on and so forth.

I have 13 precious days of vacation and spread them out throughout the year. Most recently a four day weekend to Boston! I loved the town, makes me wish that Disney's America had been a success, just another reason to visit the East Coast.

Next up is Disney World for a five day weekend in early December!
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I don't get any time off at all so for our family it is a summer vacation. We usually build around the 4th of July since it gives you an extra day to play with. For example this past year the 4th was a Friday so instead of saturday to saturday we went friday-saturday. Other than that it is just day trips to NYC or Atlantic City. rdeacon would understand this. I'm exit 117 on the GSP which puts me just under an hour and a half to NYC or AC.
