Massive flooding in Iowa and other places...

I live in Iowa, and much of the city of Cedar Rapids is underwater right now. Fortunately the water is done rising, but it is going to be quite some time before the water is gone... I live in Cedar Rapids, but thankfully I'm not in the flooded area, but everyone in Cedar Rapids is required to conserve water as much as possible (which means no showers, no laundry, no washing dishes, flushing as few times as possible, and otherwise cutting back to just essential use of drinking the water, otherwise we could all be without it for who knows how long).
Please keep everyone in the effected areas in your thoughts and prayers! I know Cedar Rapids and surrounding cities aren't the only places effected by this...

This video should give some kind of idea of what the downtown area is like[/url]

I've watched it on the news and though I don't have any relatives living in that area I'm glad you managed to get spared! I hope things will improve within the next couple of weeks for you and all of the area that got flooded.

Good luck to everyone, especially you Hawkere, and my prayers go out to you! Hopefully aid will come soon, especially once the waters recede and your community will get all the help it needs to start re-building. Keep us updated!

Some good news... The waters have been receding more quickly than expected and we have gotten some more...still need to conserve for now, but it is a less dire situation.
But a lot of people are still without a home, and desperately want to get back into their homes to see what's left, but police and national guard are not allowing them into their homes because many of the houses and buildings are unsafe. Yesterday a firefighter was going through a building to check and see if it were safe, and he stepped in what looked like a left over puddle of water and he fell right through the floor to the basement.
Some services have been recovered, but there are still many roads and business closed. I traveled across town the other day to see what things were like, and it was clear that the waters had been receding a lot, but there is tons of debris and trash all over the place. It is one thing to see it on tv and see pictures in the newspaper, but to have seen it with my own eyes was quite an experience.
For now there is a lot of work to be done around the city, but the good thing is the flooding is going down pretty rapidly and services are gradually being restored, and some roads and highways are being reopened (for a few days just to get from one side of town to the other you had to take something like a 4 hour detour).
Thank you all for your prayers and support!!
This is a video when the flood waters were around their highest, but thankfully it is no longer that bad!
