USH King Kong gone.... :(

Post by bamato » Jun Mon 02, 2008 8:10 am

I don't know if any of you heard this Sunday, but the studio in the backlot tour at USH that housed New York and King Kong burned down on Sunday. No news on the cause of the fire yet.

I hope they rebuild it.... :(

I was shocked when I heard the news. I kept checking online and on the television for any information. I'm just glad that the courthouse from BTTF is still standing and was saved for at least the third time in the past couple of fires USH had.

Yeah me too. I was glad to hear that the film vaults that were damaged housed only replaceable films. Are they claiming that someone using a blowtorch early in the moring to do maintenance started the fire?

Franklin and I almost bought tickets to Unv Studio's when we are out there next week, glad we didn't! It's sad, that was a nice attraction (King Kong). They think it was a blowtorch that set everything on fire (thats just the pliminary report).

Seeing the fire is now an attraction within itself!

That's what I believe. They said that a blowtorch that three employees were using was the cause.

I was sad to hear this but glad they were able to save the Back To The Future courthouse facade. I remember in the mid '90's a friend of mine worked there and we got to drive his car around the backlot and walk around that courtyard. It was fun waving to the tramloads of tourists like we were something special. :D
