Well, today is officially the day...the best day of the year. Today is the day the greatest game in the history of sports returns to us.

I hate the offseason. And now, it is finished. Only a few hours to go. And who cares if Tulsa / Louisiana-Monroe and LSU / Mississippi St. are the best they can dig up? It's football season!

There are only about 40 hours left until we get in the car and drive back up to Austin for that glorious first game of the season. I LOVE college football!

:D

I can't wait until Texas comes down here and kills UCF. Everyone on campus is so excited and I just don't understand it. The conference stinks and UCF is average at best. :|

Biggest game of the weekend: Tennessee @ California. Two borderline NC contenders (both would need to run the table) put that chance on the line in a revenge game. Last year Cal went in to Knoxville and got just embarrassed... now Heisman hopeful DeSean Jackson and the rest of the Golden Bears look to return the favor when the Vols visit Strawberry Canyon on Saturday.

Can't wait!

Oh, also looking forward to Georgia Tech @ Notre Dame (Hail Hail!) Wazzu @ Wisconsin (good luck to the Cougs, who will need it), Ok State @ Georgia, and Kansas State @ Auburn (in both cases, would love to see the Big XII cause a couple upsets!)

Yay football!

Virginia Tech plays ECU on Saturday in Blacksburg - we've won the last 5 meetings with ECU. This should be an easy one.

My sons and I are all glad the season is on!

Well, I am very happy for you Boilerbabe and your team. I however, will not be talking about college football for a couple of days to maybe weeks. I was at the nationally televised Rutgers game. All I can say is it was the comeback that almost happened. If you saw the way it ended, just imagine watching that in the stands. It was IMO a freshman mistake in trying to reach for more. In that case you just go to the ground and get lined up before the chains are moved.

Tell me about it, and that was the homecoming game...it doesn't need to be that close. But we are number 1

Thanks Len!!! I'm sorry your were disappointed with your game. We've had our share of disappointments this year, that's for sure. Hang in there, it will get better! :)

Georgia probably wishes they could just stay home for this one.

Besides...Florida needs to win out. I want them in the MNC game (providing Texas wins out, also).

Jacca, at least the Florida game is at 2:30 so you could, theoretically, go trick-or-treating when it ended around 6.

Texas plays at 7, so there isn't anything I can do. I will be walking around with my son and my family with an earpiece in my ear. ;) :(

I feel for you SW!! We are in the eastern time zone and will be leaving the house at about 5. The game starts a 3 and there's no way out of it! You got to understand they are 16 years old!! This will be there last trick of treat, I will do my dad duty!
