My favorite musical besides the Disney films would have to be Singing in the Rain!!! That one scene with Gene Kelly is about the greatest moment in film history!!! It's so ironic how he's singing in the worst weather. It's also funny to see how wet he gets. :D

I'd have to agree on Phantom of the Opera and The Music Man. One of my other favorites (although I've never seen it) is Ragtime. The story is pretty depressing but has great music!

Love "Music Man" and "Singin in the Rain." Will be lecturing on "Singin..." for a film class soon.

Not a big fan of the Phantom of the Opera. I dislike how the songs get "inside my mind..." For. Ever.

Also like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Gene Wilder was great. I found Tim Burton's version thematically confused, but that's another post.

Actually, I thought "High School Musical" was fun, too.

Offhand, I would say my hometown favorites are "The Music Man" and "State Fair". Wow, you can tell I'm from the midwest.

Number one for me would have to go to the stage version of "The Lion King". The set and costumes were outstanding, by far the best I've ever seen.

Kronk, I never would have thought of the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It just doesn't pop into my head as one of those typical musicals. Still, if you hadn't thought of it first that would have to join my list. What an imaginative show all about my favorite food!

I love musicals, it's just so hard to choose a favorite!

I never got a chance to see Wicked when it came to town, so I've got a question. The storyline looked pretty dark to me, but our local paper said it was a very funny show. Which is it, or is the humor just dark?

High School Musical 2 to film in May (in Utah, again).

Did Kenny Ortega direct "Luck of the Irish?" It was filmed in Utah also (at the same school?).
