I can hum, sort of and I can kind of whistle.

I took band in elementary school and I was so bad, I was told I'd flunk if I ever played a note, so I didn't.

I own a mandolin.

I have no musical talent.

Aww, if you can hum and whistle you have some musicality. That was awful of your elementary teacher to tell you that and discourage you from discovering what talent you might have developed. We'll find a place for you in the band...maybe you can direct
