back when I initially answered this question, I was doing customer service work over the phone. I did that for an outsource vondor company that serviced Verizon Wireless. did that for 2 years, then we got a new client in United Healthcare. did the health care field (talking mostly to providers - doctors) for about 2 years, with about 1 year of that doing training and supervisory work. in March of this year, I got a job doing outside sales of supplemental accident/sickness insrance. with gas prices the way they are/were over the summer, and the places I had to work (sometimes over an hour each way through country roads), I had to leave. I was lucky in that my mom knew someone who was hiring (she works in classified advertising doing employment ads for the local paper), and I got a job at a local hospital. I work in the kitchen by either helping to put together patient food trays, taking those big food cabinets up to the floors/units, or doing receiving.

basically, if you eat anything (with the exception of stuff in vending machines) in Buffalo General Hospital, I've had some kind of hand in it at one point in time...

I don't know, but for some reason that just doesn't sound too healthy. You were wearing those non-latex food service gloves, right?

Anyhow, to be on-topic...

I have two jobs. The one that pays the bills is working on the overnight shift at a supermarket in the Northeast. I won't "stop and" say which one, but we have just made some changes.

My other job, the one that I say is my real job, is coaching a high school track and field team in the afternoon.

When somebody says, "sleep, work, eat, work, eat, sleep and do it all over again", well, that describes me to a T.
Are we there yet? When can we go back?

I don't know what's worse, the anticipation of going or the withdrawals after getting home.

When I first saw this question I was working for an insurance company doing group sales. The work was ok and the money wasn't bad. Well the bottom fell out. This was a good thing, it made me go back to my true love. I'm a low volt tech (Cable Monkey), servers, if, cameras, door access, sat down link, fire, security, sound. You name it, if it has cables of any type I can install, set up, program, and train the client and their staff.
I am so happy it didn't work out with the insurance gig!! My DW told me it was nice seeing me come home from work happy again. Don't get me wrong, I come home dirty most days from work, work long hours, sometimes am gone for weeks on end, and have about $10k worth of tools (I have over 15 years of experience), but I truly LOVE my Career!! If feels so good to be doing what I was meant to do!! Moral of this story, don't change careers because you think you should be doing something more adult. :D

if I'm working with raw or cooked foods directly, of course. But, I don't do either (I'm not a cook). all the foods I work with are either in boxes, or are yet-to-be-cooked. plus, we have to wash our hands regularly, and there are those antibacterial foam stations all over the place in the hospital.

I am a CAD account executive for a company that contracts and puts together large conventions, trade shows, or expos nationwide. My job is to layout the floor plan according to fire marshal specs and show manager specs. Its such an awesome and interesting job which always changes on a day to day basis. I work on multiple shows throughout the year and have the opportunity to visit a lot of these shows. The best part about it is I get to travel from time to time, which to me is a huge plus since i love traveling.

Cool little perk is i have access to a lot of floor plans for WDW and DL resorts and hotels, since we do shows in some of these facilities.

If you have ever travelled through Atlanta on Delta you could have possibly been on one of my airplanes. You can't complain when you look forward to work, and I have one of the best office views of anyone!

Plus I get free travel benefits to anywhere in the world, so it's easy for me to get to Disneyland or the World anytime I want to!!
Ever flown into PSP? I used to work for Alaska Airlines there. Man do I miss those airline perks

I haven't flown into PSP for work, but I have flown in there sitting in the back. It is very beautiful country up there. I am currently based in Atlanta and we fly all over the East Coast and Midwest, so no chance for me to fly out west unless Delta tells us to fly out there. I would really love to fly out West since that is where I grew up and would love to get back out there!

What did you do for Alaska airlines?

I would love to say a flight attendant cause that is usually what one expects to hear...ha ha ha My job was not as glamous sounding but I loved it just the same. I was a gate agent, ticket counter gal and even loved working lost luggage. Something about telling someone "no we don't cover that broken zipper" was fun.....JUST KIDDING!

I also worked for TWA back in 1989 in OKC for a few years, same job description only adding that I worked control and did weight & balance.

I loved working for AS, I would go back in a heartbeat if the salary was better :( that is why I left, couldn't live off it. I am with you, I love the West Coast, though New England has grown on me after 6 yrs :D
I think once you get the smell of jet fuel in your blood you either love the job or hate it. I sometimes sit and watch the flight path from my house of the flights going into Logan when its during peak time. I never tire of watching the big birds fly!

Keep your wings level, your seat belt fastened and enjoy your flights!

Hospitality. So pretty much guest relations without the plaid.
