Re: Food Pr0n!
A Blueberry Basil Martini (they were sweet and in stock)
Mac and Cheese with winter tomatoes (I think I might have posted this before)
The Four Seasons Cocktail
Pasta Carbonara (first attempt at making it)
Pasta Amateicana
Duck with the fresh cherry port sauce (posted before) and a rice pilaf
Blood Orange Souffle (it's not very red since it didn't get that cold and my oranges need the chill hours)

Wow ~ a black widow bite? Hope you are recovering fully ~ those are nasty!
Everything looks quite tasty once again. Did you really put ice cream in beer???

Yeah, it took about a week for it to go away. I called my doctor over (he lives close so he could do housecalls) when I thought I my appendix was inflamed and he saw the bite on my hand and checked some other vitals and said it was a widow bite.
Yes, ice cream in beer is quite good, but only if you're using a darker beer or a chocolate/coffee beer.

Hmmm, never would have thought to try ice cream in a beer ~ even if it was darker or chocolate flavored!Wizzard419 wrote:Yeah, it took about a week for it to go away. My brother that lives in Cali has a black widow in his garage. He says he doesn't disturb it, and in return it leaves him alone

Normally they do not attack people, since we are too large to eat, but it must have bit me while sleeping since I'm pretty sure I would have seen it on my hand.

Re: Food Pr0n!
All right, time for an update.
Since we have been having a hot winter, winter cocktails have been in short supply.
So lets get drunk on hurricanes!
Here is a pomegranite tequila martini (it's like a margarita but with more booze)
This is something I was trying out when I was unable to get any of the christmas crunch from williams sonoma this year.
Strawberries and cream souffle (an experiment though it fell really fast)
Planter's Punch
Bardstrom Sling
I may have posted this before (was making two different dishes up since I had a person with a shellfish allergy at the table)
Chicken with vodka sauce.
Lobster and Shrimp fra Diablo
The Monkey Gland (named for a popular testicle procedure done in the 20's)
No name for this sparkling wine drink using tequila, pom seeds, and a little bit of grenadine
This was more about the buiscuits, since I know the chicken has been seen before.
I think this was called the commodore
A pom margarita
This might have been seen before as well, warm goat cheese on salad.
Some strawberry drink
A raspberry drink
And cheesecake and almond cake with kiersh

Yum, I don't mind seeing dishes we have seen before ~ it's like having leftovers! I saw something resembling rice krispie treats with chocolate
Lots of new fancy drinks, but not very fancy names for them Are you slipping?!

Blame the 1920's, and I can't recall the names of a few and others were made by me so I haven't named them yet.

Re: Food Pr0n!
It was a time when women knew their place.
Anyway, the christmas crunch, that isn't really like a rice krispy treat since there is no marshmallow in it. I toasted the rice in the oven first, to give it more flavor, and then made a burn sugar salted caramel as the binder. It was good but it wasn't as crisp as the store has. It is either due to them compressing it more or they use a different puffed rice.

Hmmm, sounds tasty. Did you put it back into the oven after you put the caramel on it? I would think that would dry it out a bit and make it crunchier.Wizzard419 wrote:Anyway, the christmas crunch, that isn't really like a rice krispy treat since there is no marshmallow in it. No, I made a dryer mix than my caramel corn. I think they might use a different process than can be done at home, they also might be using a rice that is different than you would find in a breakfast cereal. It still was really good and a lot lighter, just not as crunchy.

Maybe if you got some liquid nitrogen. You could freeze it ~ that would make it crunchier tooWizzard419 wrote:No, I made a dryer mix than my caramel corn.
