Truth: I stopped following baseball years ago when my Astros traded Nolan Ryan to Dallas. Talk about a stupid move! So I don't even know what's going on these days, or who is who... I don't even know the names of the guys on the 'stros roster!
I used to follow the Pirates many many years ago because my dad did. He was actually a pitcher on their farm team, but gave it up to marry my mom. Can you believe that?
Anyway, I don't really have anything constructive to add here. Maybe someday when my 'stros start playing like a real team I might get into it again...
WOW!!! Your mom threw you dad a "CURVE"!!!

I hear you Jacca, the Phils had been playing with 1 to 4 minor league'rs since the 7th game of the season and now that they have ALL the starters back they lose 4 straight games, to the Astros!!! Bring back the nobodys who were actually contributing please!!!

Len, wake up the Mets, the Phils and Braves are inviting them to the postseason.
Nah looks more promising for the Marlins. We will be lucky if we could take third in the division this year.

Jacca - Thanks for the glimmer of hope. I had heard that a lot of the pitchers that have had this surgery actually throw better afterward... here's hoping!

Hey... my boys FINALLY made the highlight reel last night! Too bad it showed Nyjer Morgan acting like a JA while being escorted off the field. I don't blame him for charging the mound but I don't condone his actions coming off the field!

Question for Nats fans: Is Nyjer as big of a yahoo as he seems to be to "outsiders"? I'm a huge Braves fan, and I admittedly pay no attention to the Nats unless they're playing Atlanta. Just sounds like it's one thing after the other with that guy.

Not that we haven't had our fair share of yahoos, mind you! I could write a long list of people who utterly embarrassed me as a Braves fan for one reason or another, be it due to their behavior (Furcal, Lofton, for starters) or their over-exaggerated sense of importance and ability (Jeff Francoeur, I'm looking at you...).

I don't think he's a Yahoo, I just think a long season is starting to weigh on him a little bit. There has been nothing illegal about his hits on the catchers, just stupid decisions as he would have been safe if he would have chose to slide on one of them. Then they hit him with a pitch and tried to hit him again. I don't blame him for going after the pitcher in that situation.

What about the incident in Philly?

kcarts - To tell you the truth, I haven't seen the incident in Philly. Let me check it out on You Tube and get back to you.

EDIT: Oddly enough, I cannot find a video of the incident but I found this article on the Sporting News website that said this:

There was a recent incident in Philadelphia when Morgan threw a ball in the stands and hit a fan. MLB suspended Morgan for seven games, a punishment he is appealing.

Beyond the headline: A fan in the stands says there was no malice on Morgan's part. In an e-mail that fan sent to The Washington Post, he wrote that Morgan lobbed the ball "rainbow style" in the direction of a boy who was standing 30 or so feet away and had called for the ball after between-innings warm-up tosses. Morgan threw high and the ball hit another fan who was looking in another direction. The fan struck by the ball also has been quoted as agreeing that he was looking away and was surprised that Morgan was suspended.

I am fairly certain that Nyjer would have been suspended a lot longer if Selig thought that there was any truth to him pegging a fan of the opposing team.
