Mousekedude wrote:Thanks everyone. She called me today to say that she talked with her doctor's nurse. The nurse says it's ovarian cysts. But we're not sure that's all there is to it. Besides, how is the nurse qualified to give us a diagnosis over the phone?! She tried to say that Mouseoholic didn't need to come in for a couple of weeks, but also that even then, she may have to be sent to another specialist. Apparently this OB-Gyn is all about pregnancies and babies, so if that's not your issue she doesn't want to deal with you. That's ridiculous! Poor Mouse was awake almost all last night in pain, and she went to work today with an emergency overnight bag.... just in case. So she's pushing to get in and see the doctor sooner. I'm still waiting to hear the result of that.
*sigh*
The saga continues. Glad you all care. It gives me someone to talk to.

Sounds like it is time to get a second opinion... and fast! It could be that the OB-Gyn is not one who specializes in this type of issue. Just remember that the nurse is actually just relaying the information. The test had to be read by a doctor and the nurse was just informing you about how the test results came back.
Just keep hoping for the best!

Mousekedude & Mouseoholic: we all may offer advice, but as the two of you know fully the facts and the people involved in your particular problem, the only thing that matters is that you make the decisions you feel is right for both of you. We're here for support. You're in our prayers.

Thanks again everyone. We appreciate all the warm thoughts and good advice. I will suggest to my Mouse that she try the castor oil and heating pad thing, I.C. Anything would help at this point.
I think she is trying to get another appointment soon. If she can't get something going, then we will probably seek out another doctor. The thing is, Mouse says the test results showed another mass of some kind in the area besides just the cysts, and that's what she wants answers to, besides just wanting to know what to do next and what to expect vis-a-vis the cysts. I really think her doctor needs to make time to at least meet with her and discuss it. That's what we're shooting for. We'll keep you all posted.
Thanks again, everyone. We love you all.

Thanks, mama-b and B-dude.
She's calling our primary care doctor tomorrow to say that she wants some additional tests and such, or else she's finding another doctor. She's been in pain all weekend, and is becoming more and more convinced that there is more going on than just the cysts. They never even tested anything else other than her female organs, and we are beginning to think that there may be more going on. It's possible that there could be another condition in the intenstines or something that they didn't even think about. It's like they found the cysts and just assumed that's all there was. But even her OB-Gyn said that it was strange that she had so much pain with the cysts; that it was unusual for that to be the case. Well, hello! Must be something more going on! So she is going to demand that they look further, in more places. We'll see how that goes. It's been a miserable weekend.

Maybe get a second opinion from a specialist doc of internal medicine? I have to admit, the second opinion did save my mother's life, so I'm a big believer in it.
My prayers are with Mouseoholic and I'm glad she has you there with her for support, Mousekedude.

Sorry to hear about Mouseoholic's condition and that she is in so much pain.
Hope you get to the bottom of this soon, and the recovery gets under way quickly.

Thanks everyone for you kind thoughts. I have so much pixie dust I just do not know what to do. Boilerbabe sent a truckload in a card...(Thanks Boilerbabe). I am finally feeling better.
This weekend my stomach and back was starting to bother me and so I took a muscle relaxer and that seemed to do the trick. I started with muscle cramps about 2.5 years ago. I think went on thyroid medication and that seem to do the trick. From time to time I still have muscle cramps and I think this may have been one of those types. As of Monday I am feeling a whole lot better and I am beginning to think that the OBG-YN was correct in that the cyst was not the real issue and should not be causing my pain. I think it was a muscle cramp in my abdomen because after I took the muscle relaxant I feel so much better.
I still plan on following up and getting to the root of the problem. The challenge is that work right now is so demanding and I just do not have the energy to focus on both. I am responsible for User Acceptance Testing for an in-house program so I can't just walk away from my job.
The good news is that it appears that all of your pixie dust, distant hugs and some muscle relaxants did the trick! for now...=) I feel myself finally.....
Thanks again everyone....

I am very happy to hear that you are feeling better thanks to the wonders of muscle relaxers (they really do work magic!). I am hopeful that the cyst was just one of those incidental findings that is not the cause of any pain or other related issues. I'll be sending some more pixie dust your way to make sure the pain doesn't come back
