I just got back from Disneyland to find out that both the Rockets and the Moose wiped the floor with their respective opponents. Excellent. Sucks about Canada losing to the Czechs though.

Sorry about your Winterhawks, Fantasmikels, but at least they were able to push it to Game 7.

And no need to apologize for disliking the Leafs, Club33Hopeful. Around here it's almost an Olympic sport. I'm sure the lockout has set them back quite a bit, but the sport itself benefits from the fact that it will always have be popular in Canada. If by some twist of fate the NHL folds, Canadians will just turn to whatever league comes in to fill the void.

I think the NHL will do just fine though, and come back to some level of respectablility in no time. People's memories are short, and if the NHL can improve its product and its marketing then I see no reason why it can't regain its spot in the big four of U.S. sports within a few years. Then again, I'm one of those who thought they'd be playing again by January/February, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

This is a super old thread but I didn't want to make another one on the same topic but I'm a Ducks fan. I'm watching the game right now.

How many of you are going to the games this year for your team? What are your views/opinions on how your team is doing so far even if it's early in the season?

Well, I am a Ranger/Panther fan. I grew up a Ranger fan down here in FL, and then the Panthers came. I used to go to all the Panther practices and had a blast, first name basis with some of the players. They aren't looking to hot right now, but my Rangers look great! Already have tix for both visits down here. Last year I went to NY, figured I'd see a game, and what ended up happening? THEY WERE PLAYING THE PANTHERS IN FLORIDA!!!!! At least I got to watch the game on NY TV and relax.

I am a big time Rangers fan. I am excited with how well they are doing to start off this season. I have to say my favorite part of the Rangers is Sam Rosen who is the TV announcer for the Rangers.

We live so close to Chicago that we've always been fans of all Chicago teams! I love the Black Hawks, grew up going to the games! My family is a hockey family. I love to skate. Even though the Hawks suck and I will most likely never see them win the Stanley Cup in my lifetime, I still love them!!! Go Hawks!

It's funny because I live in the Phoenix area and somehow we support two hockey teams. Besides the NHL Coyotes there is an ECHL team, the PHX Roadrunners. I love minor league hockey and miss rootin' for my SoCal team, the Long Beach Ice Dogs (now defunct.) But the Roadrunners have it good - since the Coyotes got their own arena, the Roadrunners inherited US Airways Center and all the old NHL facilities.

I actually went yesterday. They play in the ECHL, but against western division teams like the Fresno Falcons, the Alaska Aces, and last night newcomers the Victoria (BC) Salmon Kings! A rockin turnout of about 4000 fans in an arena that easily holds 25,000. Good seating is never an issue.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

My favorite team (Hartford Whalers) high tailed it to NC ten years ago. I still flip the Bruins on if there's nothing else to watch but I kind of lost my gusto for the NHL after the Whale left the Mall.

Buffalo's on a roll this year (so far). 5-0-1 as of the game tonight against Boston. Sabres were down 2-0 midway through the Second period, but came back to force OT. finally, it went to a SO. so, as of right now, we're in second place behind the Rangers. But, they have a couple of games on us (and we beat them when they were undefeated), so we'll be in first soon enough...

Go Sabres!!

Oh, I am so proud of the Ducks now. They won last night's game and they are now 6-5-0. They're catching up at least so that's a good sign. They're in second place behind San Jose in the Western Pacific Division. Here's to hoping for a better season for them.

I am also a huge RANGER fan, have been a my life! In years gone past it was a true test living in Brooklyn. When (the hated) Islanders came in to being and then the Devils, well lets just say a lot of people jumped ship. Families were now arguing about hockey. It was (for a long time) the one sport in the metro New York area that everyone could agree on.

It has gotten better since the Rangers are a better team, but it's still hard to be a Ranger fan.

I was just thinking (and I don't believe how long it took). "Me like Hockey" is a comedy song. DUH!
