This was my rescue cat #2. I put flyers up around the neighborhood, but no one claimed her. No identification on her collar. Some nasty soul tossed her out as a kitten and put a flea collar on her. As she grew, flea collar began to choke her. She couldn't meow as much squeak really. It took a while to coax her into trusting me so I get that flea collar off of her. It was on so tight it hurt her briefly trying to get it off, but I did. In doing so, it was like taking the thorn out of the lion's paw, she just loved me. I placed her with a co-worker, who had an exact identical cat (and I mean an exact match in looks) to this cat that had passed just a few months earlier.

We called her bandit because the black around her eyes look like a mask, and when she first showed up, she would sneak and steal the food we put out for our feral cats. I had a vet that luckily let me board for a few weeks for an extremely discounted rate while I tried to get her adopted out. Just to show you how much she hated living outdoors - when she moved into the vet's boarding, she was very happy and thought of it as her new home - she didn't want to leave! But she eventually did, and has been living her home now for more than three years...

LOL, that's what Kiotu does, too! My wife actually gets jealous! I'm serious! It really cracks me up when she says stuff like, "oh sure, pick up Kiotu and love on her when you walk in even before you kiss me hello." To which I reply, "well, at least she greets me at the door." (which she does, by the way).
It's so cute the way she is always there right by the door when I come home. She hears me pulling into the garage and runs down the stairs to be there as soon as I walk in. My wife shakes her head in disgust, but I always say "well, you could do the same, you know.." and then we laugh about it.

My kitty loves me...

That's a heart-warming story, Mindflipper.

I have the same problem with my sweet little lady, Jacca5660 and Mousekedude. Any female that comes into my house Kitty immediately sees her as the "other woman". She gets bent out of shape and lets her know she is not welcomed!!

And yet, we still love them as though they were human. What can you say? Cats are just so amazing when you really appreciate them. I swear I can communicate with them. In fact, I am known as "cat-whisperer" in some circles.... I even have an email address with that term in it.

Okay, now I think I've embarrassed myself....

Language, Jacca5660! Do we need to send a nun with a ruler over to your house?

This time, let me tell you about rescued cat #4 - Nikki, although my first name was Fred. What can I say, I'm bad at telling the sex of a cat from just its look. Nikki was an abandoned cat. So, since Nikki lost her home, she found herself a new one in a nearby old, unoccupied house:

See the tree on the ground behind her? It fell on the house, and the county condemned and scheduled it for demolition. With the help of a local adoption agency that works out of PetSmart, I was able to take her away from her condemned home just less than a week before it was demolished. I found out from their vet that Nikki was already neutered by her former owners. Why would anyone just abandon a cat - especially one that is as loving as this cat? Thankfully, she has a better family now. Here's another favorite photo of mine:

It conjurs that image from OLIVER of "more, please?"

Nikki is cute. She looks like a cat I had 12 years ago, named Austin.

Nikki actually looks a bit like my Louise (ahem...in her younger, thinner days). I am trying to find my pics to post. None of them appreciate the camera too much so it's hard to get pics of them. I have a few, but I can't find them. I promise I'll get some posted soon.

EDIT: I found 1 pic of Louise on my phone...here is the link

Sorry it's not a better pic...phone cameras are not that great :( (notice her "smile"...she always "smiles" when she sleeps...too cute)

Go to a file sharing site like Photobucket.com and create a user account. It's easy and free (I was opposed to doing that at first, but now I'm glad I did). Follow the instructions for uploading pics from your computer. Once you have done that, choose one and click on the button above it that says "share". It will take you to a menu for different types of sharing links.
Click on the button at the top that says "Get Link Code". That will open a menu for different types of link codes, and the one you want is under the section that says "IMG for bulletin boards and forums." It's the first one under that heading, and says "full size" next to it. Left click once on that link to highlight it, then right click to bring up a selection menu and click "copy". Then go to your text window in subsonic where you are typing up your post, right click on the window where you want the picture to be, and click "paste". You will see the link code appear there. Then when you actually submit your post, it will show up as the actual picture.

MmeLeota: Louise is a beaut!!! Like my cat, I see that she loves to sleep next to you. I once went to sleep on my side, and woke up to find my cat climbed on top of my hip, curled up, and went to sleep! Not the most comfortable spot for her to take a nap!

We go through that every night! My little "daddy's girl" (Kiotu) loves to sleep on top of me, and the other one (Audrey) loves to sleep at my wife's feet. When it's cold, Kiotu likes to crawl under the covers and sleep between us. She'll put her back against my wife, and press all four paws on my back or leg. If I move, she stretches out and reaches around until she finds me so she can put her paws back on me. It's so cute. If we're already asleep when she decides she wants under the covers, she will stand on my pillow next to my face and paw at the blankets as if she's digging a hole, then look at me and meow. If I don't respond, she will do it again, over and over until I finally respond.

Cats! They're like kids, aren't they?
