Everyone is saying it is mild flu....

Just like normal....wash, wash, wash....... say the alphabet while you wash, they say that is how long it takes to wash properly.

Stay well everyone.....
Flus can happen any time as far as I know. It's best for everyone to stay safe and keep washing your hands to stay clean.

Okay, I found a map of how close one of the strains is to me. Don't mind my writing on there since I made it to show one of my friends.

Okay, I have been waiting for this topic. I am really upset because my Honeymoon to DLR is in like 12 days. I now have family freaking out about it and now the trip is tainted with the hysteria!! Why did this have to happen now??? Im sure there are many travelers feeling anxious  Hopefully we learn more about it in the next week!! The media needs to calm down tho. They are like a dog with a chew toy. They are gonna chew on this til the next thing comes around

Spoke to the Disney Travel Company and Travel Guard (the people that the travel insurance is through). Disney says they will arrange to reschedule my vacation if there is a Government mandated restriction on travel. Travel Guard says the trip insurance does not cover "anxiety." This means if tons more people get this flu in CA and we don't want to risk going to DLR where thousands congregate with mulitple germs, we will lose our money...umm can people please calm me down???

they said on the radio this morning that 36,000 people die each year from the regular flu. This might be a media thing but who is going to take a chance. Also the conditions in Mexico are certainly not the same as in the USA.

From what I understand, the CDC is studying how this strain is working. They don't know if it is going to mutate, and if it's going to get any worse. Of course I wouldn't travel to Mexico to tempt fate.

I'm not saying that this isn't a serious matter, but I do believe the media plays a huge role in this and getting people all worked up!

I have a good friend that's a senior pharmacist at our hospital, and she said that the strain could also mutate and become less violent. But the media doesn't tell you that either! They just want to work everyone up! Like wdwannabe said, I wouldn't go traveling to Mexico right now, but I wouldn't get too upset about this either. Just do the usual washing of the hands, don't put your hands next to your face etc....

It just "hit" Washington state. And I say "hit" because the media are saying that it's hit us but lo and behold, we (like most other states) don't have the resources to ACTUALLY determine if a virus is the swine flu. So they're working everybody up for no good reason. And out of the 6 "cases" 5 people are already getting better. I mean, really. It seems like they're trying to get us to freak out and build bomb shelters and stop life as we know it.

With all this hype, I wonder if our government is trying to take our eyes off the real problem. (wag the dog?)

Yes I heard a similar theory. The government may be trying to distract us from the bad economy. The media is doing a great job if thats true. It might all backfire though if people boycott pork and mass transportation from freaking out over bad information. The news reported the first death in the US from the swine flu yesterday. Most neglected to say that the boy came over the border from Mexico into Texas. So no Americans have died from this flu, yet.

So, I assume everyone thinks we should still go on our Honeymoon to Disneyland right?? As of now unless this thing gets wayyyyy worse, our bags are still packed 8-)
