Taxes!!

Post by AKLRULZ » Apr Sat 12, 2008 1:23 pm

At least I get to listen to some great Disney tunes while I finish up my returns today.

Did I ever mention how much I hate taxes?

Funny - we're doing that same thing today. I'm slowly getting my DW hooked on the 'sonic!

I thought we'd be screwed this year because I had nearly five figures' worth of "side income" that I hadn't paid any taxes on at all in 2007, so I expected a big bill.

Luckily, my wife qualified for a "lifelong learning credit" because she's still in school and 29 years old (that doctorate should be right around the corner!) so we actually ended up getting a bunch of money back instead!

And of course, our tax refund is paying for a trip to Disneyland :)

Did anyone try the new "partner sites" from the IRS website to file their federal taxes this year? We started that way, and found that they refused to ask sufficient questions at the cheapest pay tier to get any money back. In essence, TurboTax in particular, avoided logging our entries "properly" unless we paid more for thier services... I could have missed it - but I doubt it.

When will there ever be a completely free e-file??!!

I had my taxes done by a CPA and even with my side income from freelancing I got money back. Wooo! I did this in March and e-filed.

We did our taxes really early, and used some of the money to book our hotel for October.
