SNL TV Funhouse re: Disney Home Video

Post by artbaum » Apr Mon 17, 2006 2:53 am

This isn't the clip cruiseguy7011 was referring to in the Song of the South thread (viewtopic.php?t=850&start=30), but I found this clip from the SNL TV Funhouse online:

http://www.mypartypost.com/watchvideo/2 ... Bambi_2002
(linked from http://www.milkandcookies.com/keywords/tvfunhouse/)

... not hilarious, but it's a little funny, and it does mention Walt's frozen head.

I'm not really offended even as a Disney fan. I like many of Disney's films, their music, cartoons, and theme parks, but I still don't find myself a fan of their home-video-release-arm. I find it bothersome having to scrounge around to find out whether a film's been edited every time Disney puts out a new DVD, and having to worry about whether they'll even consider releasing some movies in their original aspect ratios.

And from my perspective it's kind of ridiculous the way they have a case of the Land Before Time Syndrome: releasing a bagillion direct-to-video sequels of every Disney movie ever made, few if any of which get rave reviews. Though admittedly I haven't watched most of them myself, and even if I did I'm not really the intended audience. At any rate, I say go SNL for tackling such a worthy topic.

Gotcha. I guess my comments don't really apply to the spirit of the more recent segment. I still haven't watched it, though I read about it (and about it being taken off of You Tube for copyright infringement) on the Wikipedia.

I remember this TV Funhouse bit. So funny! And I think they really got Jared the Subway guy for this. Disney needs poking fun at too sometimes.

All of those videos are Windows media player. Anyone know where a quicktime or something else is?
