PDA help!

I would like to purchase my wife a pda for x-mas. I have never owned one so I am bit confused as to which to buy. Palm or HP? Money is not an issue, any suggestions?

I suggest the Palm. better overall quality from what I've heard (and I work as a CS rep for Verizon Wireless). what service provider do you use, as well, as services/ease of use may be different based on provider's needs/wants...

just to clarify, my response is in reference to PDA phones (AKA smartphones). If you're talking about a normal PDA (non phone), then I'd still recommend the palm.

It really depends on what you want it to do

Here is PCWorlds PDA REVIEWS I love PCWorld they do a good job at the research. I like iPAQ (HP) I don't like phone/PDA's, Like the Windows OS, Don't like the Palm OS.

Did you want a camera on it? How Much do you want to spend?

What does your wife do for a Living? does she type a lot? May need a extrnal keyboard. All things to think about

I love my Palm.

I have been using Palm organizers for several years now. The ones I have are the older ones, but I like them because they are not overloaded on features. They do what they are suppossed to do, and do it well. Keeping my contact information and schedule organized.

I also have some nifty things for the palm, like a collection of programs on the game of go, and document readers, so I can use it like a small e-book.

I also wrote some programs for the palm, one that throws the I Ching, and a little drawing program called Zen Pad.

i think it would be best if you research them and see what they offer. Some of us who own PDA (not me) tend to be biased toward the other one. (Sorry guys)

Well, if you purchased a Palm OS based, it might freeze or crash on occasion. If you purchase a Windows OS based you are guaranteed freezes and crashes. I don't have personal experience with the Windows ones as I don't think their worth my time. I should also mention that my desktops and laptops run linux. I don't hate Microsoft, just don't like their products. There is better stuff out there for some people. I can't wait until there is a widely used Linux OS Based PDA, which would mean no more freezing and crashing, just like my desktops and laptops.

Looking for normal pda, fast processor, wifi, and bluetooth.

I have always purchased Dell computers, never had any problems why stop now.
(Dell Axim X51v,Intel(r) 624MHz,256MB ROM,64MB SDRAM, 3.7 inch VGA 802.11b,BlueT)

Am I too late. Ack. I have the Axim X50v. I love it. I was originally planning to get something for word processing and nothing more but I fell in love with the Axim so I needed more and more, so I use that about as much as my home desktop.
