It's on Fox, not NESN.

Well today was a huge accomplishment for the Mets. We won two games in a row on the road. That is something that was last done in July 2009. However, it was against the Orioles.

Strasburg looked more human yesterday, even though he still struck out 8. He walked a few and loaded the bases to get into a jam in the 5th and got pulled. But to show you the insanity that is his reputation, there was a booth in the stadium in Cleveland (I forgot the name of the park) that sold ONLY Strasburg merchandise. How would you like to be an Indians fan and stumble across a stand selling the opposing teams merchandise? I would be upset.

I see your point about the Strasburg stuff being sold in Cleveland. I was at the store on Yawkey Way during a Sox game recently and saw Yankees stuff being sold. Irked me a bit. But you have to remember that all that MLB licensed stuff get sold and split 30 ways. So they sell what sells. Whether it's a Jeter shirt in Boston or Pujols shirt on the northside.

I remember a couple summers ago when the Sox sent Manny to LA, the next game I went to I saw Ramirez Dodger shirts on sale in the team store.

I honestly think it is a disgrace the way the media has hyped up this kid. Is he good? Yes. Should we start talking about his way into the hall of fame? NO!!! I hate how everybody is talking as if he is machine. I would love to see the hype die down and the kid could just do what he is supposed to do, throw strikes. He is human and it is uncalled for analysts to spend an hour analyzing every pitch that he throws. I really think things like this are what have been destroying the game and preventing any of the greats from being amazing.

He is human and he is allowed to walk people and give up runs. The important thing is that he can pitch out of jams, throw strikes, and keep it where his team has a fighting chance to win when he is on the mound.

I agree with you on MOST of what you are saying Len. I think the national media should drop it, let the guy pitch and mature. However, I see no problem with the local media ramming this guy down peoples throats. Short of their "inaugural" season and new stadium unveiling 2 years ago, they have had nothing to get excited about here. They haven't had a name to root for. Yanks have Jeter and A-Rod, Cardinals have Pujols, etc... Zimmerman is ok, but he not an elite player. They want this player to save the franchise basically. We average 14-18,000 fans per game in a stadium that holds roughly 42,000. When Strasburg made his first start it was sold out on a Tuesday night. When he pitched in Cleveland it looked close to capacity with MANY Washingtonians making the trip to see him pitch. I like the local hype but Sportscenter can lay off a little bit nationally. I'll lay off on the posts about him as well. Unless he does something really fantastic. ;)

I also agree that we need to see him in tight spots. When he walked the bases loaded with 1 out in the bottom of the fifth inning Sunday, I wanted them to leave him in to see if he could get out of the jam. But he had already surpassed 100 pitches and apparently they don't want to wear his arm out like they did to Kerry Wood in Chicago.

I probably should have made it clearer that I was referencing the national media. I hate how Sportscenter has like round the clock coverage on him and his hall of fame career. As for the local hype, I think it is well deserved. The team needs something to draw upon as they draw extremely poor attendance every night. It was nice to see the place sold out when he pitched. Just remember that the name will need to be backed by a team that can turn a winning season and show progress. The Mets have names but have had two major disappointments in 2007 and 2008 with a huge meltdown in 2009. This year Citi Field is a ghost town and they still have Wright, Reyes, Santana, and the rookie Ike Davis. The only thing that has helped get people to the games has been their excellent home winning record.

Enjoy the coming seasons as this could be the start of something good for the Nationals that can last for a long time.

NOOOOOO!!!! We lost to the Brewers again!!! Plus we have another injured player!!!! Arrrgh!!!!

(they just had a real cool shot of Paradise Pier though...that's a plus to being so close to DL...but it was 15 min. before a World of Color show.)

NaCler and Len, I gotta agree with you. I just flipped over to MLB network during a timeout in the hoop game and in the lower right corner of the screen was a countdown to Straburg's next start (tomorrow night). The game is on MLB. In case you're wondering there is 19 hours and 55 minutes until the game.

I agree that they should lay off on the National coverage. But unfortunately, he is the "novelty" right now...a couple of years ago a young pitcher for the Dodgers made his MLB debut by jumping from AA right into the bigs...that was Clayton Kershaw's story and it was a novelty for awhile, but once the novelty wore off he could relax and find his groove as a major league pitcher.

...he was here for 1 day due to scheduling, but he never pitched here...but I was lucky enough to get an autograph (there weren't many people around either because no one knew he was there...I had "insider" info ;) )

When are the Mets going to play a really opponent? The Braves are playing the cream of the crop and the Mets get to play all the trash! I can't wait till they play a "GOOD" team!
