The funny part is, my DW cooked dinner for REX on nights that we got fend for yourself. She controlled his weight very closely so his arthritis would not bother him to much. She also made sure his bed was comfy so he wasn't in pain. Try having a 105 lb stinky (He had that Chesapeake Bay Retriever smell), lap dog in the house. I MISS MY DOG!!!

I'm sorry, that was my mistake, it just didn't come across as a joke. If it wasn't, I wanted to get the information out to you in case you were unaware of those effects on dogs.Jacca5660 wrote:The DOG drinking beer was a joke!!!! You need to find GOD and JESUS!! Try to get rid of some of the anger, there are issues there.
Also, please don't assume everyone needs to "find Jesus." Some of us are perfectly happy with our religions and beliefs and don't need to be evangelized to. That kind of behavior is what has the US in lots of trouble today!

My cat's a sweetheart and causes no trouble - unless there's another cat, then all hell breaks loose as she has to catch it and kill it! She makes it perfectly clear - no intruders! The house will have only ONE cat.
Other than that, she is extremely well-behaved. All my friends warned me that having a cat meant no more Christmas Tree. According to them, cats love to climb in the trees, chew on the lighting wire, and play & break ornaments. Not my cat! She loves the Christmas trees. She loves to watch the animated ornaments (its fun to watch as her head bobs from side to side as she sits there watching them for what could be hours...). Also, she loves to sleep with the presents under the tree. When the trees come down, she actually gets depressed they're gone! A cat that loves Christmas! Who knew.
As for everything else in the house she doesn't bother a thing. She knows what's her play toys and her items to scratch, and she doesn't bother anything else.

MmeLeota, your cats look absolutely wonderful. I can believe the part about them wanting to raise He**, though, because the more innocent they look, the more they like to make trouble sometimes. That's part of the "being a cat" manifesto, if I understand my spies correctly.
Mindflipper, I can relate to your cat too. My little one (Kiotu) is a prima donna who does not like any other animals in the house. The only reason she tolerates the big one (Audrey) is because Audrey was actually here before she was. But make no mistake, Kiotu is the master of the house and will let you know it. She is half the size and weight of Audrey, but can kick her a** in a heartbeat. I've seen her do it. But with me, she is a totally gentle affectionate little princess, and is definitely "daddy's girl." I love that little kitty.

It must be a joy to watch her enjoying the season as much as we do Mindflipper!
Growing up, our cat was very similar to yours...she even knew which gifts were hers. One year she even found a wrapped bag of cat food and shredded it open and there was food everywhere. We taped it back up and she did it again and again. We finally set up a video camera and caught her in the act!
The first year we had Thelma & Louise (we adopted them in early/mid December 2001 at the age of 12 weeks), Louise decided to climb the tree. We came home one day to see a kitten face poking out from the tree. We lost a couple of ornaments that year, fortunately we were able to replace them.
The following year we put up the tree with lights only (she would be too big to climb, right?). Yes she was too big, but it didn't stop her from trying. In the meantime, Thelma enjoyed doing her best impression of a christmas present...and insisting that the tree skirt should be her new litter box.
The next year we were not home much and we didn't even bother with the tree.
...then came Ella
Ella is a chewer...she liked chewing on the wires (images of Christmas Vacation flashed through my head)
From that point forward, we have had a tabletop tree that goes on top of the entertainment center...way out of reach to the girls.
Oy!
