Get the Goo!

Post by rdeacon » Feb Wed 26, 2014 10:07 pm

This one I found out just from experience.

Any run more then 5 miles I pack some goo.. whats goo you say?

ENERGY GELS!!

My personal favs are https://guenergy.com/products/products-energy-gels/

Its amazing how much better you will feel on your long runs after eating these every 3 to 4 miles. Just make sure to try them when you are training, no one wants to get sick during a race. Also you can try other brands... Cliff, Hammer, Powerbar, etc.

I haven't found a flavor that I don't like of these. My favorites are probably the salted caramel and the chocolate outrage. Like Rich, I normally do them every 3 miles.

I really like the Cliff Bar Energy Bloks. They're organic, and more like candy then the Goo. They taste kind of like Dots. They also come in packs of 6, equal to 2 of the Goos. So opposed to taking one Goo every three to four miles, I take one block every 1-2 miles. It helps me keep track of how much i'm putting in vs. how much I'm burning. It also helps me keep my energy level fairly steady instead of having peaks and valleys. I'm a huge fan of them.
Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle until the ride comes to a full and complete stop. Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day here at Walt Disney World.

We use SIS orange flavour same sort of thing every 3 to 4 miles all through training over 5 miles and in races as well.

I really love these chia bar things instead of goo - nice and small for carrying and the result feels a little more sustained. Major downside - seeds in teeth. But you have something to focus on while you are running along so maybe not such a downside...

Those look pretty good. But I also thought the same thing about several power bars and they all end up tasting sort of yucky to me. Maybe the bars are punishing me for trying to eat them when I don't deserve them

Ellie likes the S'mores Powerbars (it comes in a red wrapper) and the brownie flavor Powerbar Plus (comes in a blue wrapper). She also likes the chocolate chip Clif bars. These are her second breakfast at school during swim season.

I've never eaten anything or had a drink other than water while walking. I always thought it kind of defeated the point to add more calories if I'm trying to lose weight.
