Disney Radio (Not Radio Disney!)

Post by TheRealDrDisney » May Mon 04, 2009 2:35 pm

Back in the day (circa 89-92) when I traveled between school (Florida State) and home (central Florida) I would listen to "Disney Radio" when passing through the Lake City area. I remember it was about a 30-45 minute loop and featured a "reporter" named Walter Wonderful reporting from Disney World. (He kinda sounded like Inspector Gadget to me - lol)

I can give more details if needed, but I was wondering if anyone remembered this and I was wondering if by some chance it could be uploaded.

Thanks for reading.

YES!! I remember that! We lived outside of Jacksonville during that time and my sales territory took me west to Tallahassee. The signal seemed to be the best within 15-20 miles either side of I-75. I assumed that the broadcast was directed to people traveling down into Florida for vacation. The show had a peppy little tune that said "I'm going to Disney World ..." I had mentioned this to my wife and she thought I was crazy. It's fun to learn that someone else remembers this.

WOW!! This would be to cool to have on Subsonic. I think I remember something like that when we used to travel from NYC to Florida.

First off, welcome to the board TheRealDrDisney! I personally didn't know anything like this existed until today. This is very interesting and intriguing.

OMG, yes!!! Not sure how, but I had totally forgotten about this radio station! What great memories. I totally remember that song: "I'm going to Disney World, I'm going to Disney World..." "D-I-S...N-E-Y...Disney Radio!!"

Thanks, theBIGyowski, for posting the link. I love the pictures of the Welcome Center in Ocala, too. We would make a point to stop there every year - we never bought anything, but it was a fun prelude to the vacation. I remember getting out of the RV there, smelling that tropical Florida smell and getting SO excited!!

Yes I remember this station. We would know we were getting close to Walt Disney World. Then I would try to make it to the AAA welcome station before it closed for the day. It would be a pre-view of what was to come. I realy miss that radio station. When I heard the "Disney Radio", I was very dissapointed to find out it wasn't THE sation we are talk'n about.

This would be so much better than Radio Disney. Luckily, DD7 is not into Hannah Montana or HSM, but when we had XM, that's all that was on there! Yuck!
Thanks,
Doc

If someone gets this file and gives it to us we'll get it online. :) It's not quite Theme Park audio, but it's close enough and rare enough to make the cut.

Is this working for everyone? I still is not working for me. It stopped working since march.

It looks like the audio was linked to a posting in Mousebits and that the original posting has been deleted.
