I just love the randomness. I don't mind requesting. I just don't like when people request a huge block of over an hour of material. Usually when people do it, its the same song over and over again but the 1974, 1978, 1980, and 1994 versions. Or people are requesting similar songs. I never noticed it until the last 2 weeks. I never minded 6 tracks of 3-5 minutes. I keep seeing the same name over ten requests in a row, and each over 3 minutes with some being upwards of 17 totalling over an hour
Maybe I was just raised more courteous than most people. Putting others before myself too much. Sorry if that is the case. I'll try to be more selfish and not bother you with my concerns for the lesser users and the ability to listen to randomized music.
I don't mean to sound mean, but I really take offense at you taking offense to this.

ok, people. let's please settle down a bit. We all need to respect eachother and their opinions/tastes.
maybe the reason people request the same song (different versions) is to see what the differences are. did we think about that?
and, what's so wrong with someone like Eagle or myself requesting an hour worth of tracks when there's only a few listeners on (late night)? If we wanted, we could request over 5 hours of stuff in the middle of the day. I know, I've figured out how much time I could take up if I wanted. and, since I've put in the time, I feel it's my right to do that if I wanted. I don't though, because I'm aware that some people don't like what I do.
The point is, be glad you have the ability to request at all, new user or old. Sub could take that away in a second.
I will now be locking this thread, as there is nothing left to say. any replies/flames, please PM me.
Note: this is not directed to anyone one person in particular. this is for everyone here

I have unlocked this thread. I don't see any flaming going on. Just heated arguments. The maturity level is still accecptable to hear people's views.
I want to now address certain things.
FlatlandMounty,
My first suggestion is to tune out and take a break. I have to do this all the time. When I first put up the station I listened ALL the time. I then implemented requests. Afterwards, I felt certain tracks were playing more frequently. Also, as I added more tracks there was plenty of stuff I wasn't familiar with which resulted in me not wanting to listen. I implemented a points system to hinder the amount of long tracks and repeats. This has worked for a long while but seems like it's starting to break down. As the site grows more problems arise. It's going to happen. I'll do my best to try and make things equal for everybody. But, Compared to other genres of music the quantity of tracks here is quite small. You're going to hear a lot of repeats and tracks you don't like. That's when you stop listening to SR for a little bit like me. Sometimes I won't listen for a week or two.
Again, I plan to limit the amount of requests a user can make in a row. But reading here also got me thinking about another alternative...running a second stream with no requests. I'll have to look into that. Some really neat stuff gets played when it's random.
Ultimately, people have earned their points and can use them however they want. It's more polite to request hour(s) of requests in a row later at night when nobody's listening, but it's ultimately their choice.
As far as the schedules go, they DO work, but requests override them. So if nobody's requesting they work. I plan on making fixes for this as well.

that's awesome. but its not the problem I was talking about. I love the new one...I'll probably listen to the new one.
The problem I was seeing was people abusing the Requests. While I think its all great...and I don't want to infringe on anyone, the point I was trying to make was: eventually even the Noobs will have 5000 points. Then a request will be backed up for 4 hours. You'll have to put a request in, go to work, go to lunch, come back to work, and then it would be playing.
I don't know why everyone seemed to think I was attacking them.

I didn't think you were attacking anybody but using examples. Adding the 2nd stream doesn't mean I'm not going to resolve the issue for "Request hogging". That's still in the works.

It seems like this is a control issue! I also like requesting a lot of tracks at once to set my own back ground music. If you want more control..WRITE MORE!! I don't see why the system needs to be limited to satisfy someone who doesn't like a track! Its like on another post someone wanted COP limited to just one version because to many people requested the different versions!! "Hey thats popular, can you remove it?" This just doesn't make any sense!
I know I am guilty of playing all of the resort TV tracks at once! Hey our differences are what make life interesting!

Limiting the request in a row is still up in the air with me. The scheduled stream takes care of a lot of these issues. If people don't like a track coming up they can tune to the Scheduled stream for a little while.
SR now offers alternatives.
I don't know if limiting tracks will work well. This is why I came up with the points system. People only were able to request 2 tracks every hour. So people would always request long tracks. Again, I'm still thinking of something. Perhaps limit by time. A user can only request 1 hour length of tracks every x hours. This would really make things complicated between that and points. Hmm. Just me thinking out loud... nobody take it to heart.
