Ultimate WDW Nut in the Family - Len90 vs. Mark86
Okay, we now OFFICIALLY start the sibling contest between Len90 vs. Mark 86 to see which can take home the title: Ultimate WDW Nut in the Family.
Not to make this competition too difficult, I see a series of 5 challenges that our two contestants will compete in, resulting in points. Whoever after the 5 challenges has the most points, wins. If tied, there will be a tie-breaker(s) until the tie is broken.
The challenges must be generic challenges that any of us here on Subsonic could compete. No challenge should be geared to favor one contestant over the other, such as naming all the monorail colors and when they put in service. Obviously, we know which brother that would favor....(sorry, Mark86, gotta be fair to Len90)...
To start, I will post the first challenge for our two contestants:
CHALLENGE #1: Both contestants are bound to have many photos from their many trips over years to WDW. And in many of those photos, they have probably taken photos with various Disney characters. So here's what each must do: name as many characters they can they stood next to in a photo. Multiples photos of the same character only counts as one character. Variations of outfits for a character still count as only one character. So, for instance, if you should have 572 pictures of you and Minnie Mouse and Minnie has seventeen different outfits in those photos, it still counts only as one character: Minnie Mouse. There's no need to post the photos, we'll take it on the honor system (however, if a contestant contests the list of the other contestant, then the contesting contestant can audit the photos of the other contestant being contested to verify). SCORING: Each contestant will get a point for each character.
Responses must be posted by Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Late postings will receive ZERO points.
Meanwhile, during that time, that gives us here on Subsonic plenty of time to discuss ideas for Challenge #2, which hopefully we can post after the results are finalized for Challenge #1.

Hey mindflipper, kind of tough to do that since Mark and I both take our picture together with the character and none of us will skip a character. Call it a tie after challenge 1

Are you sure every single time? Check with Mark if he thinks the same. If so, I did have a back-up idea I can switch out for a new challenge #1 then.Len90 wrote:Hey mindflipper, kind of tough to do that since Mark and I both take our picture together with the character and none of us will skip a character. Yeah it's official. We are both always in the same picture with each character.mindflipper wrote:Are you sure every single time? Check with Mark if he thinks the same. Re: Ultimate WDW Nut in the Family - Len90 vs. Mark86
Alrighty then...
As both concede they are evenly match based on the first challenge, instead of eliminating outright I will award 10 points to each for I expect they both can produce pictures for at least 10 different characters. So the score is:
Len90 10 points
Mark86 10 points
Which then takes us to our next challenge...
As we did not have time to come up with next challenge from amongst our Subsonic members, I did have this one:
CHALLENGE #2: It's time for the WDW Nut to come out of the closet! Typically, most WDW visitors get a T-shirt/tank top when they visit the park, but a true WDW Nut wouldn't stop there. Excluding T-shirts/tank tops, count the number of clothing items (button-down shirts, pants, sweats, boxers/briefs, pajamas, shorts, socks, et al) that have a Disney theme-park tie-in (themed to the resorts or the theme-parks, purchased at areas or lands within, or promoting rides and/or attractions therein). Accessories, such as wallets, belts, shoes, hats, or ties are included. Jewelry is not included (and that includes pins). Again, there's no need to post any photos, we'll take it on the honor system (however, if a contestant contests the list of the other contestant, then the contesting contestant can verify the veracity of the other contestant being contested). SCORING: Each contestant will get a point for each article of clothing with a tie-in. Accessories, such as wallets, belts, shoes, hats, or ties, gain one bonus point for each item.

CHALLENGE #3 could be who has the most resort artifacts. Also who has the most artifacts from the from all the different resorts.

This is pretty amazing, mindflipper! I'll try and think of some great possible challenges if I can.

10 points is fare but I'm sure there would be way more if I was to look amongst the thousands of photos I have from WDW.
Watches and t-shirts do not count at all? Doesn't seem like anyone is going to score many points...
At least allow the t-shirts!!!!

Hmmmmmmm, thinking off the top of my head, looking at my closet I have: 1 jacket, 1 button down shirt, 2 polo shirts, 2 ties, 1 slipper, and 1 shoe. Just that adds to 10 points.Len90 wrote:10 points is fare but I'm sure there would be way more if I was to look amongst the thousands of photos I have from WDW.

Almost every person who leaves the park has a T-shirt, Len90. A WDW Nut is a dedicated fan that does more than just a normal park guest. Still excluding the T-shirt, but as a consolation, I will allow watches. But as for other jewelry items - including pins - are excluded.
Also, it doesn't have to have "Disney" plastered on it; if it's something you purchased at the theme-park - such as item from EPCOT's World Showcase, or some Hollywood themed item from MGM/DHS, or a pirate hat from the POTC gift-shop - it still counts as WDW-theme related article of clothing. To me, it's just as much as a WDW keep-sake souvenir as a Mickey Mouse watch you purchased at the park.

I agree with mindflipper ~ t-shirts are just too common. Plus you both would have about a 1000 points if we counted t-shirts. I do think watches should be allowed, those are a little more expensive so I wouldn't think you would have quite so many of those.mindflipper wrote:Hmmmmmmm, thinking off the top of my head, looking at my closet I have: 1 jacket, 1 button down shirt, 2 polo shirts, 2 ties, 1 slipper, and 1 shoe. mindflipper I have a question ~ why do you have just one Disney shoe?
Re: Ultimate WDW Nut in the Family - Len90 vs. Mark86
What I'd like to see for Challenge #2 is a picture of each contestant, wearing 1 of each type of item that they have (shoes, shirts, belts, jackets, hats, scarves, socks, etc.). You get a point for each type of item you have.

And then maybe a bonus point for the wildest looking outfit altogether?Brian845 wrote:What I'd like to see for Challenge #2 is a picture of each contestant, wearing 1 of each type of item that they have (shoes, shirts, belts, jackets, hats, scarves, socks, etc.).
