I dunno... I don't think it is carpet. The person next to him appears to be standing. My guess is that it's some kind of seating bench.
Can we narrow it down to being a restaurant in one of the parks....?

Nope, jenhen said it isn't a restaurant or hotel. I think her DS is crawling on some sort of padded bench...but I am clueless as to where

And yes, that person is standing. That's me, making sure DS doesn't fall off the bench, lol
And to recap, not in a hotel and not in a restaurant.
It is in a park.
I'll wait for a few more guesses and then I'll post which park.
