Favorite Food Item - 2013 Food & Wine Festival?
At this time tomorrow, my plane should be touching down at MCO! After deplaning, we just have to grab our luggage and rental car and then its off to EPCOT to enjoy some food and drink.
Unfortunately, I can't try everything. I have a plan of attack, but am curious as to everyone's opinion (as subjective as it might be) as to the best dish(es) this year. I am most anxious to try the Crispy Pork Belly (Brazil), the Lobster Roll (Hops and Barley), the Potato and Leek Waffle with Braised Beef (Belgium), and the Beef Slider (Florida), but would love to hear other thoughts/opinions.
Thanks.

I think someone else might have had a similar question. Unfortunately I am out at the moment and searching the forum is a bit of a pain on the tinier phone screen.
Sounds like you have some good items to try. I've heard good things about the beef sliders and also the pork sliders which I think are from the Hawaiian booth perhaps?
I'm curious about the veggie haggis but no one has tried it yet that I have seen.

Are beef sliders really that rare around there that they're considered a unique dish? It seems like every other restaurant and bar in California has a slider on the appetizer menu.

It is Florida, their culinary rep on the 50 foods (52 if you count DC and being hit by a car) was the Cuban sandwich, which was probably invented in Tampa. Other than that that, they would be like Nevada with no food to represent them. Could be worse, they could be Ohio with their diarrhea in a bowl they call chili.
My guess is "Florida" is also supposed to be a blanket term for US foods, unless it uses something distinct for prep it might as well be TGI Fridays.

Re: Favorite Food Item - 2013 Food & Wine Festival?
You mean Cincinnati chili? That's a topping, not a dish of its own, hence more sauce-like. It took me two tries to figure out the cinnamon+allspice+chocolate was giving it the flavor. Not my favorite, but not awful when you do it right. Everyone there swears you can't make it, you just have to buy a can of Skyline. They're idiots.Wizzard419 wrote:Could be worse, they could be Ohio with their diarrhea in a bowl they call chili.

The entire state, but mostly Cincinnati, is in a bit of a tizzy over their ranking on the list of foods from each state (plus DC), they were ranked below being hit by a car and calling it what I did was way more tame than what they called the sewage sludge.

Geoff is right. It shouldn't be called "chili" at all any more than the sauce on a coney dog is "chili." Cincinnati-style chili sauce stuff should be eaten on spaghetti with onions, beans, and cheese.
Now guess what I want for dinner?!

Pretty sure the spiny lobsters that people catch a few miles from my house beat them.

Because one over-fishes their supply and ships all over while the other doesn't?

Maybe...what shall I look for on the menu when I am out there then ~ I might like to try this tasty treat...although I'm not a big fan of lobster. The taste isn't worth the price to meWizzard419 wrote:Because one over-fishes their supply and ships all over while the other doesn't?
