D23 has launched it's updated website and now offers free membership.

With free membership, you can buy exclusive merchandise, exclusive content on d23.com, subscription to a bi-weekly D23 newslatter, and Special promotional offers & discounts throughout the year.

Interesting, I wonder if that is going to tick off the paying members since they are going to take most of the perks and make their merch less exclusive?

I never understood why the paid (or at least gold) level did not include a ticket to the expo. $75 for 4 magazines, a pen, a card, and the ability to buy tickets to other events seems like a bit of a ripoff (for 35 you get everything but the magazine).

I signed up for the free membership. Like Wizz, I do wonder how this will affect the paying members.

I could just imagine they would spit fire if the free members could participate in the events. From what I understand, getting tickets for the special events is quite difficult since they sell out fast.

It is probably a good thing for people who want the merch but can't make it to any of the events. But if you were going to do that it seems like it would be easier to just change the permissions on the D23 items rather than bloating a database with users.

I tried to sign up for the free membership, but I couldn't as I had a paid membership in the past. I never felt the membership was worth the price, and I likely wouldn't buy any of the merchandise anyhow, so I suppose it doesn't matter. Maybe y'all can share the link to the free newsletters here if there is anything of interest in them?

Just realized that you can also look at the recipes of food made in the Disney Parks. I may start a new post that contains the recipes.

I just signed up and when I tried to register for a username it said my membership number doesn't match my name. Makes no sense since it's the same first and last name I signed up with. Ugh how annoying.

You should have gotten an email with your membership number. Its about 9 digits or so. Use that when applying on D23

I never knew there was a free level. I want to get the Silver membership, but maybe I'll see how much I like the free level first.

Hmmm...maybe I'll come back to D23. I still have stickers on my car...
