Seems like mostly a place to gripe. I don't see where re-hashing stuff that isn't even there anymore (e.g. the Epcot Wand) is useful. I'm all for constructive criticism.

I agree, it needs some new stuff.

yeah I think the site was setup to make others (including Disney) aware of things that need to be fixed or updated in the parks

it wasn't meant to be a place to gripe about past things

I'd look for stuff to contribute, but lately, I've been pretty happy with Disney. Very surprising.

I personally liked the Mickey hand holding the wand over Spaceship Earth. It gave it more of the Disney magic in my eyes.

A lesser man would ban you for saying that! :) EPCOT was (still is?) a brand in itself. I didn't need all the tie-ins with Disney characters, magic wands, etc.

You may not have needed the tie-ins but Epcot (suck it, nerds) did so that it could actually attract a meaningful number of customers.

I disagree, Epcot was suffering from neglect. I think the tie-in were just an easy way out. Much less thought, effort, and money to bring people in.

I am talking about right from the start how it had lackluster performance, neglect can't factor in when it's still new. One of the big reasons they are also much slower with updates or new rides is that they have to use all of their own money now as opposed to before when they could get sponsors for rides and whole pavilions. It has always been expensive, but back then it was probably more effective.

From the start? I went to EPCOT close to when it was still opened, probably when I was like 10ish and several years after that. I found it absolutely amazing and didn't mind "learning".

The problem was that it wasn't a draw for tourists. The perceived educational factor may have backfired on them since it did not push the needle forward. A little surprising, considering it was near the start of educational entertainment. The idea would possibly have worked now if it weren't for the one-sided aspect since the remaining sponsors control the narrative. Though they still would need characters to prevent it from coming across as dry.
