I agree personally. I don't feel too bad about her phone, as I don't think she should have had it on her while at work. However, I have to wonder what Disney does about guests that are blatantly rude and harmful toward their employees. I can understand that they don't want each employee able to talk back to guests as I'm sure some would take it too far, but something needed to be done to help maintain at least some dignity for the gal.

Considering that the jobs are low paying and have a high turnover, probably very little unless there is a criminal charge pressed by the employee. They might kick them out for throwing a drink on her, but that is about it.

That is so sad. I know people pay a lot of people to go to Disney, but that doesn't mean that they can be abusive to the staff! That would get them kicked out of most places.

I don't appreciate that last line... as a Guest Relations cast member I've had people cursing in my face and I've never been "too scared to step up" and remedy the situation. It is very sad to hear stuff like happen at the most happiest place on earth....Im glad the guy got arrested...

Sometimes the Magic just doesn't touch everyone the same way. I hate that the eral life has to intrude on the Happiest Place on Earth. Unfortunately it is just human nature.

Good for you Soarin08. Taking crap from guests comes with the territory, but there are those who cross the line. Believe me.... I have been called many things by people in my job.

This weird/odd thing happened when I went to Disney World back in July 6, 2011.
I was riding Space Mountain at one of those awesome Magic Hours. (My dad couldn't ride it because he thought he pulled a musscle during the ride from another time before the magic hours.) So, I wanted to ride by myself twice. (And blind) I went in the ride. The roller-coaster started and there was a woman screaming for dear life through the whole thing right behind me, and the funny thing was I could not stop laughing not just because I enjoyed the thrill. It was because of how she was screaming! And to make matters weirder my dad heard the woman scream like he could hear her for miles!
But being blind with a lot of surprises of what's gonna happen next brought a lot more laughter even without the woman screaming for dear life.

That's funny. Being so very visual, it's hard to imagine what riding something like Space Mountain would be like without sight. I'm with your dad on that, though... that ride has taken my breath away, quite literally, and I have declared myself too old to participate more than once per trip. Hazard of age.

It was probably also not because of age, it might have been his weight too. Anyway, he's losing weight for the next trip.
It's sometimes tough to be blind, but these Cast Members are super nice to me.

That is hard to think about what it would be like experiencing attractions without vision. Space Mountain might be one of the equalizers as it is fairly dark in there anyhow. I know the last time we went I found Space Mountain to be a bit on the herky jerky side and wasn't up for more than a few rides myself.
May I ask what sort of accommodations you are provided at the park captainbubble? Do you have to rely on your family to describe things for you?

I agree with all of the above. I went on it last year and the car was WAY too small for me (and I'm 6'3). I felt cramped and honestly rather unsafe on that ride.

Yes. My family had to describe some things things to me, and sometimes I imagine some things.

I've actually spent a day on two separate trips (2 years apart) in the MK infirmary, where Debi the angel RN from New York took excellent care of me. I hate to admit it but one of those times, I did "cause a scene."

It was the last day of a trip and we were just hitting the MK for shopping and last minute favorite attractions (Country Bears had just re-opened that day), but on the drive to the park I got the first sign of a migraine. I told the fam to go on and that having taken my meds, I'd be ok at the TTC, just resting and drinking water in the shade on a bench. They went, Dad most reluctantly of all. But my meds didn't keep up with the migraine (and the TTC doesn't have first aid) so I hopped a ferry to the park with the intention of walking to first aid. Couldn't make it, I sometimes get tunnel vision with my migraines and this one had it which makes walking in a crowd rather difficult. Got to Town Hall Guest Relations and waited my turn for a cast member, but since one of my migraine symptoms is the inability to speak coherently, I had a very hard time making myself understood (which in turn was frustrating and made me cry as the pain kicked in) and was pretty quickly surrounded by concerned staff and EMTs (migraine presents an awful lot like stroke and someone was clearly trained to recognize strokes as the EMTs were there in less than 2 minutes). I was able to convince them I didn't need to go to a hospital (showed one of the EMTs my migraine prescription); so, they wheeled me swiftly to first aid where the staff immediately dimmed the lights as much as possible for me and put me in a bed in the far corner (quietest spot). Debi brought me cool towels and was fantastic.

Every CM I talked to (or more accurately mumbled incoherently at) was soooooo nice and concerned. I was embarrassed to be making a scene but grateful for the kindness. I imagine the other guests who witnessed it must have thought me a total drama queen. I want to tell them, that was nothing - they shoulda seen me on the flight home...changing clothes every 20 mins because I had gotten vomit on the last outfit.

Not my best day ever.
