You are so right! We stayed at OKW last November and it was beautiful. So calm and peaceful...we had a great balcony view of a pond and really enjoyed the space.
And the Savannah view at AKL would be incredible! But I'm always torn with spending that kind of money when we really aren't in our rooms that much. Maybe we would be if we stayed there!
It is just tough when you have little ones who might need a nap or just have to go back to the room for a bit during the day. I swear, to leave wherever you are in the park - walk to your bus - wait for the bus - the bus ride to your stop - all of that can take up to an hour. And that is a lot of time, especially when you have to do it all again to get back to the park.
If it was just adults, it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but because there are a lot of times we need to go back and forth, it gets taxing.
I know the transportation is STELLAR for what it is and how well Disney does it, but it can be tough on the little ones.

Guess we might just have to buy into DVC ourselves. ;-) If only it were that simple! :-)
And the little ones probably fall asleep just enough on the bus or in the stroller to make getting a full nap near impossible :( Lots of things to weigh when choosing!

Oh, I think it is simple to buy into DVC, it's just not cheap ;)

Yeah - I think someday it would make sense to buy DVC, but it is quite the commitment and financial obligation. Not that we wouldn't make up our money's worth though. :-)

The wife and I have agonized over that decision - buying isn't bad, but the annual fees can really add up. Ran a bunch of calculations - DVC can be a great choice, IF you spend about two weeks at WDW each year, and stay in Deluxe resorts - then DVC will equal out AND give you larger space (maybe) with kitchen (again - maybe, depending on what size - 1bd, 2 bd, etc).

But, then again, you can always rent someone else's DVC points and such - I've done it successfully twice, and it was a great deal. Just be careful!!!

Yeah...DW is more on the "buy DVC" bandwagon than I am. If you go to WDW multiple times per year and plan on doing the same for the next several decades...you will save money in the long run. The discounts on APs, dining, etc. save you money as well. Also...the ability to bank/borrow points allows you to try longer or more lavish WDW trips for special occasions like milestone birthdays, anniversaries, or family reunions.

I'm all for renting...you just have to do it far enough in advance to get what you want. If you have friends/family who are DVC members, they can check resort availability for your ahead of time, which can help when trying to find someone to rent points from.

I have seriously thought about renting some points to stay in the new DVC close to the Contemporary... So where do you go to find people who are renting points.. and how do you make sure that you don't get burned? that and not being sure if I will save money has always stopped me from doing it.
