Yeah, I wish that was still the case. Then those nasty people wouldn't have tried to trample me while I was helping F1gment off the monorail when we were last theredstrawn9889 wrote:maybe you remember this better from back then... one door side opened BEFORE the other?

Amy: you are so correct. I know it's exciting to be there, but common courtesy seems to have gone out the window.

Re: Remember When?
Not just at Disney. I was at Sam's Club yesterday and was trying to figure out if people were running over me because they were in a hurry, just oblivious to others, rude, not paying attention?? I never came up with a concrete answer but I'm sad at the way the world has become all about an individual instead of caring for others...sigh...Goofyfan wrote:Amy: you are so correct. And it is everywhere. I call it the me syndrome.... If it doesn't benefit me....then F#$% the rest of you. So sad it has come to that. At least the majority of the people at Disney are not like that

Re: Remember When?
I think with society's go-go-go mentality these days, it just makes everything worse in everyday life. Add in a ton of people, usually hot weather, and a vacation environment (plus oodles of over-sized stollers-used-as-weapons), and you have pure chaos. I know I was raised to apologize if I accidentally bumped someone or even almost bumped someone. Heck, I was raised to say "Excuse me," just when walking past someone standing in place looking at whatever is on the shelves at a store.Amy wrote:Not just at Disney. I don't know if a bunch of parents these days are totally incompetent at raising polite children, or it's the children who just don't care and grow up to be self-centered adults, but whatever the cause, manners have gone the way of the wind with a lot of folks.

Check out the link in the first post. They have several videos from about 30 years ago.
I really like the old Epcot videos.
Thank you SO SO much for that link.. I have a lot of wonderful Disney stuff to watch now to get me in the Disney mood!

Re: Remember When?
dstrawn, I remember the monorails doors you were describing. Mainly I remember that slamming sound you were talking about.
I also remember those bikes in WoL. I LOVED them because of the video that would play while you were pedaling. They showed you travelling down Main Street and people getting out of your way. I thought it was amazing technology. I wanted one to take home!
