On February 11, actor Ian McShane appeared on a soundstage in Los Angeles for a very special “head shot” – one that will soon be featured in the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Disneyland park and Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort.
Captain Blackbeard will make his appearance on the ghostly waterfall in the grotto scenes of the park attractions beginning May 20, coinciding with the release of the new film, “Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides,” in which McShane plays a starring role.
Walt Disney Imagineering writer Michael Sprout (who wrote the script for Bill Nighy as Davy Jones several years ago) was on hand to direct the special shoot with Ian McShane. Michael said, “He came in wearing his complete Blackbeard costume, including the sword, saying it helped him stay in character!”
Look for Blackbeard soon in this classic attraction, and the return of Davy Jones later this year.

I like the waterfall projection. I think it's cool that they can switch out like that. Perhaps in the future it could be randomized to show either one.
I do miss hearing Sterling Holloway's voice along that dark corridor though...

Pretty neat! Ian McShane is a brilliant actor - looking very forward to seeing PotC: At World's End and perhaps even Blackbeard in the attraction if I'm lucky.

Do you have an audio clip of that? My mind's blank..

Unfortunately, I do not have a sound clip. I was however, able to pull up the quote:
Perhaps ye knows too much...Ye've seen the cursed treasure, you know where it be hidden. Now proceed at your own risk. These be the last 'friendly' words ye'll hear. Ye may not survive to pass this way again...
What I'm not sure of is, if this part was at WDW or not. I am much more familiar with DL's version, so if it doesn't ring a bell, that might be why.

I liked how they put Jack Sparrow and Barbosa in there, they were there but it wasn't overwhelming. I hope they do the same for Blackbeard.

That audio is eliminated from the WDW - the cave grotto is a shorter area in WDW. Also, the WDW version doesn't have the "accursed treasure" that is passed while floating along in the DLR version.

Yeah, WDW's Pirates is really short so it doesn't have much of anything

Is WDW's version shorter than DLR's? Wow.

It is about half as long as DL's version. Different sources I've found indicate WDW's version runs about 8 minutes 30 seconds, while DL's version is 13 minutes. It was quite a glaring difference when I rode WDW's Pirates this past December...

Doesn't most of that have to do with ours having to make it past a dining area, getting under the tracks and into the show building?

Getting under the tracks and into the show building is most of the cave grotto area of "Dead Men Tell No Tales" and the treasure area, whereas at WDW getting under the tracks is the queue and boarding area.

Well that's a shame to hear. Either way I will most likely go on it just because it's Pirates.

It's still a good attraction..just be prepared for it being much shorter than DL...

Think of it as being that much closer to special merchanise opportunies.

There's a gift shop at the end? I hadn't noticed!
